Oops didn't see that thread. Still retarded that they would blatantly misquote this translation. Of course it's to be expected at this point.
Wait did they basically just rehash this from that 2013 article? Lazy

February 8-14 AssTower is titled " A living Translation of God's Word."
Note paragraph 4:
“4 Despite the clear evidence that the personal name of God belongs in the Bible, many translations completely omit the sacred name of God. In fact, just two years after the New World Translation of the Christian Greek Scriptures was released in 1950, the Revised Standard Version was published. That version omitted the name, reversing the policy of the editors of the American Standard Version of 1901. Why? The preface says: “The use of any proper name for the one and only God . . . is entirely inappropriate for the universal faith of the Christian Church.” That set a pattern for many subsequent translations, English and non-English.”
So they vilify the ASV bible for not using Gods name. Oh but wait!! Let's look at the full quote!!
A major departure from the practice of the American Standard Version is the rendering of the Divine Name, the “Tetragrammaton.” The American Standard Version used the term “Jehovah”; the King James Version had employed this in four places, but everywhere else, except in three cases where it was employed as part of a proper name, used the English word Lord (or in certain cases God) printed in capitals. The present revision returns to the procedure of the King James Version, which follows the precedent of the ancient Greek and Latin translators and the long established practice in the reading of the Hebrew scriptures in the synagogue. While it is almost if not quite certain that the Name was originally pronounced “Yahweh,” this pronunciation was not indicated when the Masoretes added vowel signs to the consonantal Hebrew text. To the four consonants YHWH of the Name, which had come to be regarded as too sacred to be pronounced, they attached vowel signs indicating that in its place should be read the Hebrew word Adonai meaning “Lord” (or Elohimmeaning “God”). The ancient Greek translators substituted the work Kyrios(Lord) for the Name. The Vulgate likewise used the Latin word Dominus. The form “Jehovah” is of late medieval origin; it is a combination of the consonants of the Divine Name and the vowels attached to it by the Masoretes but belonging to an entirely different word. The sound of Y is represented by J and the sound of W by V, as in Latin. For two reasons the Committee has returned to the more familiar usage of the King James Version: (1) the word “Jehovah” does not accurately represent any form of the Name ever used in Hebrew; and (2) the use of any proper name for the one and only God, as though there were other gods from whom He had to be distinguished, was discontinued in Judaism before the Christian era and is entirely inappropriate for the universal faith of the Christian Church.
So out of respect for the divine name they omit it from their translation. Why the lies Watchtower???

What were Satan and his demons "doing" up in heaven, before being "cast down" in 1914?
by Dunedain ini was just thinking about how the wts has been spouting off for years that satan and his demons were cast down to the vicinity of the earth in 1914, but really, when you think about it, what was the difference before 1914 or after 1914?.
its not like satan and his demons did not have access to the earth.
satan and his demons always were messing with earth.

This thing with Satan makes a good argument for the way disfellowshipped people are treated. If God in all his wisdom had dealings with the instigator of all things for thousands of years, why should we treat fellow humans who may have done something much less on the scales of justice like lepers? 🤔
If ever I get put before a judicial committee I will ask that question.🤓

A JW experience
by Saintbertholdt inthis is a quick experience i have recently had and i have two questions at the end.. a couple of weeks ago, the dogs were barking at the gate on saturday morning and wouldn't you know it, it was some witnesses.
there was a father with his lovely wife and their young daughter.
the father did all the talking as mother and daughter just dutifully smiled and watched.

Back in the day I worked with a long time Auxiliary Pioneer who would get derailed on the easiest of subjects. It was as if she really didn't care if she was successful or not. I remember quite a few times she would get asked if she was a JW and the householder would say, "I'm not interested." Now from here a few basic questions could be asked to perhaps persuade the householder back on track.
She would just be like, "Ok have a nice day!" and that was it. 😕 It was such a waste of time working with someone like that lol.
Personally I just enjoyed talking to people. I never cared much about selling those silly mags. Just share a thought from the bible and ask for an HONEST opinion, good or bad. Had some great convos with people since most thought the bible was rubbish anyways. Those experiences were probably the one thing I actually miss about serve us.

Why would anyone choose to support Jehovah’s Witnesses?
by Half banana inwhat is the point of supporting a belief which began as a bronze age ox-headed idol called yahweh... in a religion designed for illiterate peasants now appropriated by a money-driven cult with a one hundred and forty six year unbroken record of total failure of its bible based predictions?.

I don't mean to attack DY it's just that there is always another choice. Don't give up and feel like your stuck for the sake of people. If you have friends who are witnesses Im sure you can make great friends outside the organization too. Just be true to yourself. Don't live a lie for the sake of having friends. There's a lot of people in the world that would love to make a new friend. -

I don't know DY.
Supporting an organization that prays for the death of billions of innocent men, women, children and babies so you can have paradise?
Supporting an organization that purposely leads people away from the Christian means of salvation?
Sounds evil to me. Might as well join a terror group.

@ DY I see what your getting at but don't you feel in the slightest that you lying to yourself or maybe not living the way you'd actually Want to live?
It just seems like such a hard thing to stick with something that you know is wrong!!
I was away from meetings for a month and I was really feeling happy again, then my wife bucked a bit and so we went to two meetings in a row. The depression kicked back in and all the anger came rushing back. I hate that so many people are being mislead. It really pisses me off!!
I told her the other day that going to those meetings brought the depression back. She didn't know what to say.
You must be a mighty strong person mentally to be able to find good in something inherently evil.

jhine you make an excellent point. It's perfectly fine to stick to wtbts teachings..... if you don't ever want to think freely.
They are creating a zombie race. Seriously people need to stop waiting for the zombie apocalypse. It's already here and the zombies are Jehovah's Witnesses!!
