Had a major blow out
by freemindfade inmy mom was emailing a group thread of rhetoric about isis and armageddon, and i finally got sick of it and said some pretty intense harsh things about ideals, and wishing for armageddon.
then it went back and forth like some debate, all the while i am holding back unloading serious ttatt on my family.
i put a whole bunch of scriptures where the wonderful yahweh committed infanticide.

Dear freemindfade's mom:
So, those children were punished because of who their parents were?
OK, then explain this:
Premise 1: Jehovah punished those children for their parents' sins.
Premise 2: Jehovah doesn't change.
If those two things are true, then how do you explain Ezekiel 18:20? When we read it in the ministry and on the stage, we usually stop at the point where it says that the soul dies. But what about the rest of it?
Eze. 18:20 - The soul who sins is the one who will die. A son will bear no guilt because of the error of his father, and a father will bear no guilt because of the error of his son. The righteousness of the righteous one will be accounted to him alone, and the wickedness of the wicked one will be accounted to him alone.
So, which is it, freemindfade's mom? Did those children deserve to die for their parents' sins or not? Does Jehovah change? Is Jehovah a God of Justice or not?

REASON demands belief in God
by abiather init has been the history of mankind that they proceed from the crude to the subtle in all spheres of life: they seek the subtle amidst the crude, and in the subtle, they seek the subtlest.
when hunger is extinguished, humans looked for art.
ancient humans appreciated the harmony of music; they also liked to dance in joy.

Reason demands a belief in God.
Wrong.
Reason demands you say, "I don't know," when you don't have the answers. Saying that Magic is the answer for questions that are as yet unanswered is not reason, it's arrogant delusion.

Oooff. Sorry man.
I bet the whole bible being fairy tales thing is what sent him into cult mode. Breaking faith in the organization has to come before breaking faith in the Bible.
My wife still believes the Bible. Drip irrigation from the scriptures about how the organization is wrong is what's working right now. I can enlighten her to Dawkins after she's free of the cult.

I have this memory of deciding to get a Stephen King novel (Tommyknockers) from my high school library.
Went home and started reading it. First few chapters were pretty amazing.
Felt guilty because I had heard urban JW legends about people who owned Stephen King books having demon problems. And that their problems continued until they burned his books in their BBQ pit.
I marked my book, went to take a shower. Came out and my mom was freaking out. She said I was "inviting demons into the house." She made me burn the book and reimburse the library for a "lost" book.
I never read a Stephen King novel again...
...until I woke up to TTATT.
Here's the dumb part: Tommyknockers is just a run of the mill SciFi thriller.
I remember years later, watching The Shawshank Redemption on TNT with the family, my mom saying at the end it was such a great movie. Little did she know.....

Caleb & Sophia video Getting Big Coverage
by freemindfade inwow, i am kind of surprised the amount of attention this appalling video is getting from the media.
not surprised because it is appalling but that something that i grew up with was encapsulated in a cartoon and is exposing the witnesses publicly for mind control.. www.nydailynews.com/news/national/jehovah-witnesses-video-slammed-threats-kids-article-1.2116873.

Dean's the bomb! Which book?
I'm reading some of his older Sci Fi stuff right now.
Dark of the Woods was the one I was reading on Sunday. Really short novel. More like a novella or novellette. Finished it Sunday evening. It was a good escape. Nothing to write home about.
I had yesterday off, so I started Stephen King's Tommyknockers.

The watchtower is way too long, beating these things out into an hour is painful at best.
Wholeheartedly agree. I was so bored last meeting I decided to read Dean Koontz on my tablet instead, and I still gave a comment. -

Joseph and Potiphar's wife
by StarTrekAngel inwhat are the real reasons joseph refused to sleep with potiphar's wife?.
the watchtower and others teach that joseph refused to commit adultery.
specifically to the jws, we teach that joseph, somehow, knew that adultery was wrong, despite not having any specific rule or writing to teach him so.

Maybe she was a fattie and Joseph just wasn't into that.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
