They are Definitely Attacking "Higher Education"
by XBEHERE ina friend of mine recently had his co visit and in the elders meeting the co out-right asked the question: how are the friends doing in your cong.
as regards pursuing higher education?
the co continued...you know in view of all the counsel from the slave regarding the dangers.

Really interesting thread when you consider the recent attacks via JW Broadcasting. -

1 Corinthians 11:3
by XBEHERE inrnwt "but i want you to know that the head of every man is the christ; in turn the head of a woman is the man; in turn, the head of the christ is god.".
sexism aside, how does the wt/gb explain their absolute power over the sheeples based on this scripture?
where are they located in the model listed in that scrtipture?

Here's how my elder dad would probably explain this: "Well, son, Paul wrote that to anointed Christians. So, the head of each anointed Christian is the Christ. But, we're not anointed, so we have the Faithful Slave to take care of us."
This is why I have never had a TTATT conversation with my dad. There's always some justification and the GB is never wrong.

Memorial on Good Friday?
by ShirleyW injust found out the memorial is this coming friday, which is good friday, don't recall that happening before, or has it?.
just seems strange that the dubs would celebrate their only special day on the same day that christendom celebrates as well..

sir82 is right. The memorial moves around depending on the year. Sometimes it coincides with Good Friday, sometimes it doesn't. But it's been more than 10 years since the memorial has been held on a Friday evening.
Technically, though, as the Jewish day begins in the evening, the days the memorial truly coincides with Good Friday are when it is held on Thursday. The evening of Good Friday is already technically Saturday by the Jewish calendar.
Here's a list of recent memorial dates compared with Good Friday dates:
Good Friday Memorial 4/3/2015 4/3/2015 4/18/2014 4/14/2014 3/29/2013 3/26/2013 4/6/2012 4/5/2012 4/22/2011 4/17/2011 4/2/2010 3/30/2010 4/10/2009 4/9/2009 3/21/2008 3/22/2008 4/6/2007 4/2/2007 4/14/2006 4/12/2006 3/25/2005 3/24/2005 -

The Secret is out....but nobody cares
by MrTheocratic ini've been looking on this site for some time but never posted.
i'll give a little about myself, but not too much.
i'm a ex-bethelite ( brooklyn )and currently serving as an elder (10 years) (thinking about stepping down) on the service committee.

I think there are areas that are like what MrTheo describes. Austin, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle.
I live in a state that is a bastion for conservatism, and I truly believe that an environment like that makes people more religious and makes the JWs more intense in their beliefs.
I would venture to guess that Magnum lives in a more conservative area of the country and that MrTheocratic lives in a predominantly liberal part of the country.

This is nothing but a rewrite of the Nov. 15, 2008 study article "Help Them Return Without Delay!"
Nothing new. Same headings. It makes one wonder if this is one of those "false stories" started in Social Media. I have yet to see any screenshots of this brochure that supposedly showed up on the JW Library app. All I've seen were the title of the brochure and the table of contents - all typed out, no actual screenshot.
This could very well be another "Basic Pioneer" style rumor.

Last week was announced a new meeting on a Saturday once per month to watch the JW broadcast. Now there's a meeting I will never attend!
That must be a local anomaly. No one in my neck 'o the woods is talking about that.

Elder: So which one of these three -- anxiety, hurt feelings or guilt -- is the reason you left?
All three. Anxiety because I don't believe anymore and worry that my family will shun me if I stop pretending, hurt feelings because of the organization protecting pedophiles instead of children, and lastly, guilt because I belong to a cult and actually recruited others into this cult and got them baptized a.k.a. trapped. Is any of that covered in the brochure?
Elder: We'll read your name at the next meeting.
Any way you answer that question, they're probably reading your name at the next meeting.
