The Watchtower are Right About Blood...
by cofty in... but, they fail to take note of one important detail.. i believe that if we are going to have any chance of reasoning with a jw about blood, this is the place we need to begin.. don't try to convince them that it was only a dietary law.
it wasn't, and they will never go along with it.. don't tell them that saving a life is more important than obeying a law, even a seemingly trivial one.
they take pride in obedience.

What is their usual reaction when Jesus said it was okay to break the law in a life or death situation. Breaking the Sabbath was a Capital offense, breaking the law on blood was a capital offense. Then read Matt 12:11. "Who will be the man among you that has one sheep and, if this falls into a pit on the sabbath, will not get hold of it and lift it out? All considered, of how much more worth is a man than a sheep!" Then say Jesus is your leader and you're taking your cues from him, not imperfect men. -

21 Years as an Elder, 5 as an MS, I will never be that guy again.
by James Jack ini was deleted as the cobe after i let my adult child move back home and he admitted that he fornicated under my roof while my wife and i where away on a rbc project.
of course the elder mode in me kicked him out of the house.. the elders moved quickly to remove me because i was too involved in "theocractic activities", i had neglected my adult son.. i accepted this primarily because i didn't want to serve with a boe that did not want me.
i was devastated however because it was the only life i knew.

Where and when did you ever hear or see a JWS DFed for attending another DFed JWS wedding ?
Particularly when they are family ?
Like their own son ???
..... and be honest !Finkelstein:
I personally know of a couple that were publicly reproved for attending their DF'd daughter's wedding. The charge was "conduct unbecoming of a Christian."
However, I've never heard of anyone getting DF'd for this. But the fact that they can form a Judicial Committee for it to begin with means you could be DF for it.

How do you feel about religion as a whole?
by FatherFirst init just seems to me religion in general primarily makes truly bad people worse, not genuinly good people better; and in many cases has even made good people do bad things in the name of their religion.
just curious, a personal poll if you will.
what are you guys' current views on religion as a whole?

Though I came to a different place in my beliefs than FayeDunaway did after exiting, FayeDunaway supported me with words of comfort in my time of emotional turmoil when letting go of the cult, and for that, I will be ever grateful and let him/her have their religion and never criticize him/her for it. (I'm assuming the proper pronoun is "her" but I hate to assume.) -

by quest81 inbillboard raising awareness of the dangers of the jehovah's witness cult.. short summary.
millions of people's lives are being adversely affected every day by jehovah's witnesses' (also known as jw.org) harmful teachings of shunning former members, refusal of certain kinds of medical treatment, social isolation, and harboring of child molesters.
the goal of this campaign is to sponsor a billboard that will be targeted to current members traveling to the belton, tx conventions july 31st - aug 9th 2015. these conventions attract thousands of current members and hundreds of prospective members.

How much do you love Spam?
by John Aquila ini not sure how popular it is in other parts of the world but in my part of the world, it is not popular at all.
if you had to climb a ladder to get to it you would have to climb over steak, ham, fish, chicken, tuna, bologna, and a few others meats before you get to spam..
i have not seen a spam commercial since the 90s.

SIMON, THIS POST IS SPAM! GET OUT THE BAN HAMMER!
In all seriousness, I like Spam sandwiches and Spam & Egg tacos. Those are my favorite ways to eat spam.

Why attack?
by newqatarjob inas someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!
) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.
i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.

This dude either did a total drive by, or has been driven speechless by the amazing responses. If you believe the latter, I've got some Pyramidology books you might be interested in buying. -

How do I feel about it? It's completely ridiculous and gobledeegook.
How do I feel about others who are religious? As long as it doesn't tread on my rights and freedoms, believe all you want.

One Scripture To Trash the Org: 1st John 4:18
by freemindfade in1st john 4:18 .
18 there is no fear in love,+ but perfect love casts* fear out, because fear restrains us.
indeed, the one who is fearful has not been made perfect in love.+.

That statement that we have all heard in talks time and again is the ultimate JW-oxymoron.
Interestingly, and correct me if I'm wrong, no where in the scriptures does it specify that the type of "fear of God" is not a morbid fear. It's always just stated as, "Fear Jehovah your God," "Fear God"...etc.
