she is wearing the convention badge and also a badge with sophia & caleb on it.

i find it very amusing and she is not even a grandmother even though they like to portray am as a grandfather.. here's what their 1990 w 12/1 says about movie stars.

Cappytan, how many times, how often, have they worked with the members? Working with a member once only proves he went door-to-door once.

That's true, but I think it's faulty reasoning to flat out say say they don't go in the field ministry when there is some evidence that they do occasionally.

Is it reasonable to assume that these relatives of mine are special in that these couple of Governing Body members worked with only them and only went out that one time and that they never went out with anyone else ever again? One of my relatives has only been there about a year now and the other is a temp construction worker. It seems unlikely that these two Governing Body members would choose these two obscure brothers to work with just to start a rumor that they go in service.

Disclosure: only one is actually my relative. The other I'm only related to by marriage.

WOW! Had a discussion about these pins and things few months back with my wife. I pointed out to her how idolatrous this was. Obviously she attempted to justify it saying that this was just some brothers who probably don't realize what they are doing. I told her that might be, but where are the elders? Told her that may be but that if in a few months those things were not addressed, then I had to assume they were seen as approved and that anyone who would see that out on the streets would condemn us for idolatry. Not only it has not been addressed by the elders, this gal is wearing it in front of the very man with the most strict views.
This pin is WTS approved.

David Splane and the GB Helper who were at one of the Atlanta International Conventions both wore JW dot ORG badges on the stage giving their talks. That convention was also tied into the huge Houston RC that had over 60,000 in attendance. If that's not approval, I don't know what is.

Pffffhttt! Like the GB really go out "preaching" in the field ministry anymore? Give me a break!

I know for a fact they do. I have family members still in Bethel that have worked with several members in the door to door work.

They're still Pharisaical cult leaders, though.

Do you have a copy of the book Crisis of Conscience that she can read?

I do, but she's not completely ready for it. She just mentioned last week that she respects my search for truth but "please don't go on apostate websites."

She still has that boogeyman fear of apostates even though she is now technically one herself.

I should add that she brought up the Armageddon issue and the Paradise issue all on her own. These were not things we previously discussed!

Well, this is a new development.

She broached the subject of TTATT tonight. Said I was right about the flood. That it wasn't rational to take that story literally.

She also said that she is losing faith in JW teaching of Armageddon. That only JWs surviving doesn't jive with a loving God.

She mentioned how Mormon's belief in getting their own planet wasn't any more far fetched than our belief in a future Paradise earth. "Except our belief is based on the Bible, but who's to say that the Bible is any different than The Book of Mormon as a credible source of hope?"

So, I laid it out for her about the Blood doctrine flip flop and told her I felt like I was becoming atheist because I was having a hard time separating my belief in God from my belief in JW doctrine.

She said she was having a hard time with that too.

I told her we would figure things out together and that we don't have to make a decision now. It's okay to chill and let things digest.

I finally have a progressive, although unwitting, study!

not being a witness ( ubm here ) i think everyone has known a jw kid and at a certain age " my mommy won't let me play with you ".

I had one worldly friend growing up, but he moved away in 3rd grade so I lost touch with him.

I was friendly with other people at school, but was never friends. I was an outcast.

Site Update: Feb 9, 2015 - Vote feedback! (likes / dislikes)

i just pushed out an update that should now show post votes and provide some feedback when you click the like / dislike button.

the votes shows as a +5 / -2 next to the like and dislike options.. i just realize i linked the display to the ability to vote and given that the vote links are hidden on your own posts, that currently means you can't see the votes that others have given you (i'm almost wondering now if that may be for the best, lol).

expect it to change when i push the next update out.. duplicate votes won't be counted even though they may appear to update in the ui so don't bother trying to go click-crazy - every member only get's one vote on each post.. just a word of caution: i take serious people who try to game the system.

Do you see counts for other posts? Quite a few posts on this topic have some - if you see those then it's working and you may just not have any votes on the posts you're looking at of your own, if not then it's likely a script / compatibility issue.

So, if the count == 0, then display: none?

i'm new here but not new to researching and questioning the jw beliefs.

i have quite a story.... one that's been haunting me for awhile... but first, i'd like to hear what people have to say about this topic question, please.. -gigi.

I know how it feels to have that question.

I've become fine with not knowing.

I had to learn that it's perfectly okay to say, "I don't know."

You can't be afraid of the unknown. Embracing and accepting the unknown is embracing life, liberty and happiness.
