erm, i believe garage sales are also known as yard sales in the states?
anyway, i'm planning on holding a garage sale in a month's time, as i will be moving and i want to get rid of my junk, as well as hopefully raise some few much-needed $$$.. those of you who have held them, what advice do you give?
any tips on making it more profitable?
Reading all those Agatha Christie books and Ross Periot books when I was a kid paid off.
Ruby, you sure you don't mean Hercule Periot? Ross is the zillionaire politician with the dumbo ears.
Anyhow...as to "Yard Sales"....to hell with them. I find it much more profitable and less hassle to pack it all in a truck and drop it at the Goodwill or Salvation Army or some other charitable thrift store. I can get more for it in a tax writeoff anyway.

ludicrous as it may seem, the watchtower society may be right?...
yeah?
as so much of their doctrines are based on interpretation.. the watchtower society may have interpreted the bible... correctly!
Yep and it's also possible that I might have pigs that have sprouted wings fly out of my ass and rendezvous with the mother ship that will take all intelligent life away from this planet that is to be proved simply a figment of our collective imaginations....
Get the point?

who's really a liar?.
this is a long story, but i wanted to get all the details in.
COMF..
Now all you need to do is slap a set of Khumo's on it and take it to the track AUTOCROSSING! If you want to really see what your car can do, that's the best way. I'm sure SCCA has a Dallas/Ft. Worth area chapter.
You should consider it.
Glad you got a good deal!

i never thought that they could be this dumb.
i called an elder in the cong.
where my daughter's abuser lives.
Thank you, each and every one of you for your kind thoughts and words. My daughter, Katrina, turned 9 in October. She is a beautiful child who turns ever so somber at times with worry. She is relieved that my wife and I take her seriously, make her feel safe, let her know that we believe what she tells us, and that we care about her happiness. I do not know how long her abuse went on. She tells me that she does not remember the first time that it happened, but that it happened on many occasions.
I have not sent Miss Norris an email yet, but that is at the top of my list for tomorrow. I have notified CPS in all 3 states involved and the ball is rolling. I have also made arragements for a preliminary family evaluation by a psychological counselor and will be seeking a child psychology specialist at that time. I cannot wait to get going on the legal part of the prosecution. Especially those elders. I do know that I can go after each of these men individually. I also have already notified my attorney to begin drawing up a motion for a change of custody. I'll keep you all posted on how it goes.
Thanks again everyone. I hope all of you had a happy new year's.

Thanks you guys. I just want you to be assured that Children's Services have been contacted in all 3 states involved and the ball is rolling. If you all have Kim Norris's info, I'd be grateful for it. I tried to get to the Silentlambs website today, but it wouldn't load on my 'puter. My 'dub wife is all for a civil suit as well as prosecuting the elders who are involved criminally. I did tell children's services the names and phone numbers of two of the elders involved. I'd love to listen in when they get that visit. Let me hear how they try to reason away THIS!
Missouri Judicial Statutes

When any physician, medical examiner, coroner, dentist, chiropractor, optometrist, podiatrist, resident, intern, nurse, hospital or clinic personnel that are engaged in the examination, care, treatment or research of persons, and any other health practitioner, psychologist, mental health professional, social worker, day care center worker or other child-care worker, juvenile officer, probation or parole officer, jail or detention center personnel, teacher, principal or other school official, minister as provided by section 352.400, RSMo, Christian Science practitioner, peace officer or law enforcement official, or other person with responsibility for the care of children has reasonable cause to suspect that a child has been or may be subjected to abuse or neglect or observes a child being subjected to conditions or circumstances which would reasonably result in abuse or neglect, that person shall immediately report or cause a report to be made to the division in accordance with the provisions of sections 210.109 to 210.183. As used in this section, the term "abuse" is not limited to abuse inflicted by a person responsible for the child's care, custody and control as specified in section 210.110, but shall also include abuse inflicted by any other person.

The person in charge or a designated agent shall then become responsible for immediately making or causing such report to be made to the division. Nothing in this section, however, is meant to preclude any person from reporting abuse or neglect.
Privileged communication not recognized, exception.

i never thought that they could be this dumb.
i called an elder in the cong.

I never thought that they could be this dumb. I called an elder in the cong. where my daughter's abuser lives. I began speaking with Brother "Y" (we'll call him). After some initial pleasantries (I am still a brother in "good standing", after all) I asked him if he was involved in or knew of a Judicial committee...before I could finish he said "there isn't a committee, but we are aware of the situation and are in contact with HQ about it." I said....really? Have you notified the authorities. He says "Well, we are still investigating. Right now it's his word against hers. We have no proof"...etc.
Still remaining cool...(yes, you all can pat me on the back at this point...) I said "So, how long have you all been aware of this situation? I really would like to know so that I have some kind of timeline of events." so he answers..."Well, I'd have to look at our notes to be sure, but 1 1/2 to 2 months ago."
Obviously, the wheels are turning at this point and I'm starting to get steamed. So, I say to him..."Oh, okay...well, I'm just curious why I, as the girl's father...after all, wasn't brought in on this. You know, I'm only just now finding out about all this. I just figured I'd let you know that I don't really care what you see fit to do congregationally to him. It's not any of my concern, and I coulnd't care less. I will let you know, however that I have no intention of letting the matter drop and I can promise you that I will be pusing this issue from a legal standpoint as far as the law allows."
After some more departing pleasantries, I hung up.
I sat there in stunned silence at the stupidity of these men. I mean...didn't they get the same B.O.E. letter that everyone else did...stating that in reporting states they don't hesitate to go to the authorities? Jeez these guys are some sanctimonious self-righteous bastards! My wife (still 'dub) is so mad about it SHE's talking civil suit as well as criminal charges against all of them.
I'll let you know when I know more. Y'all wish me luck because I'm goin to war!

if you care to believe it,job's sufferings present significant questions for the faith of believers in all ages.why do the righteous suffer?
what about the character of god, does his permission of suffering suggest that he is lacking in compassion and mercy?what about the reality of the inscrutable mystery of innocent suffering?why does he let us walk in sorrow and pain?theologians analyze the suffering and look for causes and solutions.using all of their sound theology and insight into the situation, they search for answers.does god really need human advocates to defend his involvement in calamity and suffering?for even the best effort at explaining the issues of life can be useless.. many have pre-understandings that god punishes evil, rewards obedience, and that there are no exceptions possible.however the inscrutable mystery of innocent suffering forces one to conclude that there are exceptions.in that the righteous also suffer and the wicked prosper.. so then ,does suffering take a back seat in trying to understand the character of god?
is the compelling issue of human suffering unknowable outside the story of job if you choose to believe it?are there matters going on that we truly know nothing about ;yet, they effect our lives?
"Im not proud of the fashion in which I bedeviled Job. I'm not proud of the fashion in which I have so often let My Brother Yahweh maneuver Me into doing His dirty work--starting clear back with Mother Eve-- and before that, in ways I cannot explain. And I've always been a sucker for a bet, any sort of a bet...and I'm not proud of that weakness, either. ... Most of your errors--this My Brother actively encourages-- arise from believing that your God is slotary and all powerful. ...That bet over Job had not been much fun; long before it was concluded I grew tired of clobbering the poor schmo."
Jerry Farnsworth (a.k.a. Satan) in Rober A. Heinlein's Job: A Comedy of Justice
For those who haven't read it, this particular book makes one think a bit about the whole god / devil thing. To me, though it is a work of obvious fiction, it makes some points that I think many would do well to consider.
Bringing into question the motives of God in the whole Job scenario is an obvious step, but one that many are too timid to do, fearing the incurring of God's wrath. Personally, I question the very existence of god because of stories like Job. If there is a god up there, I think that people's cocept of what and who he is are very misguided.
