New JW Podcast Show - Amazing Interview with Irwin Zalkin!
by God_Delusion inhello guys & gals!.
we've just launched our brand new episode, s01e01 - irwin zalkin, which we recorded last night.. you can listen to it right here - http://www.jwpodcast.org/2014/11/03/s01e01-irwin-zalkin.
in this ground-breaking bumper show, we interview irwin zalkin, the lawyer who filed and won this new child abuse case against the watchtower organisation, which saw the victim, jose lopez awarded $13.5 million.. i think you'll agree with me (after listening to the interview) that irwin really knows his 'watchtower' stuff!.

idk about current policies but I was beaten several times. I don't blame my parents for it, i was a very energy rich kid, was very annoying sometimes. I would have done the same thing, but won't do it to my kids, that's for sure.
The only problem is when parents hit because they are angry, that way beating is a childish way of finding a way to calm down.
I know you people from the west will find my way of thinking not up to date with yours, but I think that discipline involves beating at a very small degree.

University Application Personal Statement dilemma - Should I mention my jw past?
by will-be-apostate ini am applying to chemical engineering course in the uk through ucas (a lot of things changed since i've posted last time).. i have a lot of skills i developed while regular pioneering, like public speaking skills, ability to reason (even if it's bs), presentational skills etc.. i feel it would boost my personal statement a lot, but i'm also afraid they would say "this guy beleives in god, and loves science, he must be creationist.
away with him".. how could i mention that i gave interviews front of thousands of people and did voluntary work in my hometown without giving a bad impression?.
i don't want to go into details and start explaining myself that "however i don't beleive in god", or something like that.

Yes, I have. I didn't include it. I found other ways to point out my skills. Thank you for your help, I see now that it wasn't a good idea.

snare I see your point. Regarding how personal the personal statement needs to be, that is my main concern. I've written it already but it sounds too plain and general, it's like a resumé. I have no engaging life story that led me to choose chemical engineering.
@Rebel8, simon: I will rather mention that I am a freelance web designer, at least they will know I have programming skills which translates into problem solving capabilities.

Yeah, you guys are right. Balaamsass2, yours is a positive experience indeed.
It's not like I don't have any other things to mention: I did a year petroleum engineering - that must be appealing, I help those who have difficulties learning math and chemistry in high school, I'm gonna do work shadowing at a dairy plant next week but that's all.
Snare, what did you include in your PS that made you stand out from the rest of the applicants?

Hey, thank you for the posts, however I don't quite agree with the vast majority who says that the jw experience is just a pain in the ass and adds nothing valuable to a resume for instance.
The skills and work experience doesn't have to be directly related to the course I am applying to if I can relate them in some way.
Anyway, I'm not gonna risk it; but the thing is as a jw I didn't involve in a lot extra curriculum activities that I could mention which would add value to my PS.
