  Do you remember your Baptism Talk?

  Of all the "Privileges" I enjoyed, the Baptism was up there. Enjoyed getting to meet the candidates beforehand and talking with them.

  Like Blondie, I did not dedicate myself to the Organization as that was not one of the two questions they asked.

  Of course I have different feelings today. Especially when you think it through. It is true JW's don't practice infant baptism, they certainly practice child baptism. So you make a decision at 9 yrs of age and you are held accountable forever. You can't just say "I was a kid, I didn't know what I was getting into!" Nope, you are DF the same as an adult who made that decision. A very serious flaw.

  no, i'm not misquoting peter talking to jesus again, or relating a conversation i had with a jw.. i'm asking something a little different.. i began my fade in jan this year and completed it at the memorial on 26th march.

  since learning ttatt and becoming mentally free, my depression has improved, i see colours better, and my anxiety issues have dissolved.

  i returned to teaching high school after years away from it, and am a substitute teacher at some local schools.

  Glad to hear you are getting help and seeing a Psychiatrist. I remember there was a Question From Readers in the 5/15/63 WT as to whether a Psychiatrist would have to change jobs if they became a JW. Why did they have to even ask? Because, mental illness was considered a "Spiritual Weakness" not a biological illness by many in the Org.

  I had a friend who had to leave the missionary work because of her depression. Later diagnosed manic depressive and began medication. She later returned to a foreign assignment becaus the mess helped so much. BUT, as she was going through the depression she told me one of her fellow missionaries thought maybe she was not reading WT Pubs enough! Wasn't that encouraging? She remained a witness till her death a few yrs ago. One of finest people my wife and I ever knew. Her experience was a tremendous help when we suffered from the same illness in our family.

  Sounds like you have a plan. Stick with it.

  So sorry to hear about your situation.

  Major and Manic Depression (bi-Polar Disorder) are in my family. Have found that medication surely helps. Over the yrs I have observed that many give up as they try various medications that might work. My advice, DON'T GIVE UP.

  Depression is not a spiritual sickness. Just like diabetes your body may be experiencing a chemical deficiency of some sort. There are a variety of medications that could help.

  Even though you are not an active JW doesn't mean God doesn't still provide. You have already learned that these episodes pass. In a few weeks you may not feel this way at all. Hold on to that prospect. In the meantime get plenty of rest and try to get outside and walk.

  Zealous Witnesses who never had children and regret it now.

  i had two close friends in the org.

  one is in her early thirties and got married last year and the other one is single and in her late twenties.

  after reading coc, i couldn't help but feel sad at how ray and his wife felt regret at putting the religion first and not having any children.

  The following quote if from the book Children published in 1941 by the Watchtower.

  "No children were taken on Noah's ark or were born on the ark...this would show it to be proper to wait until after Armegedon to bring children into this world...it is only a few years from the time the other sheep are gathered to the Lord, until Armagedon...those who have infants during Armagedon will have much greater woe...it would be a far greater difficulty to care for them during the great tribulation..." Children book 1941 p.281

  This quote is basically accurate. However, I checked in my copy of Children book and found this info on p 312. Just in case someone else checked and said it was not in the book.

  Pretty interesting reading and very different format from most of Rutherford's writings that I have seen. John and Eunice (the characters portrayed in the book) would be 90 now, still unmarried, and if following advice in this book, they would still be living with their individualparents.

  Wonder how that is working out for them!

  New to studies Thank You

  i am fairly new to learning the truth with jehovah's witnesses.

  we have been having 2 home bible studies a week for over 4 months now and we started going to the kingdom hall 3+ months now.

  i am enjoying my studies and the brothers and sisters are wonderful .

  Now that I am out, which bible should i read? Feeling free at last!

  so, now that i am out for good, which bible should i read?

  there is no way i will read the wt one..so i still want to have a relationship with god but don't know how to choose a bible.

  it is very hard to dewired yourself and ,sometimes i feel that i don't have a relationship with him.the what ifs come and go still.last night i was up all night reading and researching , can't shake off the shock still to know ttatt.

  I have been a Bible collector for quite some time. I have over 75 translations in print form. Doesn't mean as much any longer because you can find so many online.

  A new translation that I am really enjoying is: "The Voice". Hadn't heard of it before and found it on Bible Gateway. See what you think. It is not as literal of a translation as, say the New American Standard, but it is a nice read with some very insightful comments on selected Scriptures.

  if you still go or remember the days when you did what did you think about while you were sat there?

  obviously it's very difficult to concentrate.. lol..assemblies i find impossible and have often drifted off to sleep, listening to the endless same old stuff.. .

  and i want some funny stories.. .
