83,000 theocratic facilites?
by average joe ina bethelite was telling me that there are 83,000 theocratic facilities world wide.
he compared that to 35,000 mcdonalds and 21,000 starbucks roughly to show the size of the theocratic organization.
i am not sure where the 83,000 comes from what would he be counting?

It's really nice of all the JWs to give the Watchtower their time and hard earned money to build a real estate empire controlled by only a handful of men. Now the Watchtower is begging for more money (stealing a lot and manipulating people). What is all that money really used for? I don't see a lot of charity work to help anyone. -

Other Religious Groups Critical of Higher Education
by Wild_Thing ini was reading an essay online about how witnesses are critical of higher education and discourage it.
the editor's note said there are other conservative religious groups that hold the same view towards education.. there are?
do any of you know of any religious group that works as hard as the jws at keeping their members stupid?.

Charles Russell never passed the 7th grade. He didn't like educated people - they ask questions and expect answers.
Of course there are the reasons that uneducated people are easier to manipulate, All they need is gullible sales people to sell their printing and con others to join. A successful life is not only not required but frowned upon. It creates a false dependency. If you keep the herd at a mental/emotional age of 10 they are a lot easier to control.

Achilles heel of Watchtower publications
by Gorbatchov inthe wts has published over it's existence during the years a flood of books and magazines.
many of the content of this publications includes topics about the medical, social, history field and also counsel about life style.. the achilles heel of all these publications is, that they are written mainly by amateurs, without verification and validation.
most of it is worthless.

Achilles heel?
Charles Russell never passed the 7th grade. Yet created and encyclopedia sets about the Bible because regular people were too stupid to actually READ the Bible and figure it out for themselves. He went right from Dungeons & Dragons to explaining a very long dead, and debunked, version of religion.
Russell was NEVER an ordained minister/pastor from any church. In my opinion it renders the JW/WT, all claims to have ordained others, teachings, and marriages as false.
Russell never passed the 7th grade - no wonder he didn't want anyone to go tho high school or collage.
Russell was divorced. I thought that is a bad thing. Hypocrite. He was an ass and his wife filed for divorce to get away from him. People listen to him preach about marriage? He promised God to be/stay married forever. Or is that just what they tell people? They do not allow divorced people to re-marry. (they newspaper articles and divorce court transcripts can be found online - he was diddling the 14yr house girl locking himself in her room often overnight. She couldn't testify as she was then on a slooow boat to Australia with a pocket full of cash.)
Rutherford, who insisted on being called "Judge" was never ever a judge. He ripped off 19 million (or some 150 million in modern equivalent) to build a mansion in California - during the great depression era. Really?

Freedom of religion STOPS when unwilling people are terrorized. I don't think "Stay or I will break you away from your family forever" "get out there and make more money for us as an emotional terrorized slave" "fill out time sheets so we can run your sales efforts".
I hate to be vulgar - but the Watchtower is a FUCKING PIMP to make money by threatening people. At all the #@$@#% don't even get paid.
If all those who want out just left - it would be the death nail to the Watchtower.

On one hand, you could try to pry her away from the cult. But my case she really doesn't believe that much. She is far to worried about not seeing her family and friends ever again.
I have heard so many people on here that don't believe but stay so their family isn't ripped apart by a controlling cult. Isn't that really sick?
Unfortunately in staying, not believing, they are supporting the claims of active members. It's like staying friends with someone you know is a repeat rapist. It boosts his ego and brags that he is so popular for having so many friends - all these people must trust him - and he's out raping so many more without fear of getting caught.
How many on here would walk out the door and never go back if the WT was forced to stop shunning and threatening to break up families? A million or more?
Someone should really come up with legal cases for intimation, cowertion, extortion, blackmailing, racketeering? How many broken families would be willing to testify?
They arrest people every day that threaten to break your legs if you don't give them your money - or peddle their products. How is emotional threats and emotional terrorism any different? How many emotional intimidated slaves have built there real state empire? With NO FREE WILL.

What's Your Scenario For The Watchtower Corporation's Business Future? Will They Survive Much Longer In This Information Age?
by frankiespeakin inthe internet a marvel of modern science, mass communication, information at your finger tips is transforming peoples lives.
but alas the whole thing took the governing body by surprise as they continued to pin their hopes on childishly magical and wishful thinking bible interpetations.. the train has left the station and the governing body are just now comming to terms with it(the internet), while they still demonize it for its freeing power, and plethora of information that doesn't fit with their narrow world view they must still navigate a path that includes or give some recognition to this information source now becomming availible to all all over the world.. how will the watchtower survive all this and still be directed by a bunch of delusional old and odd geezers is beyound me to comprehend.
what say you?.

Can I make a JW/WT (facts only) brochure, and if I see a cart - stand next to it and hand them out? Mail some to everyone in my town - to inoculate them? -

It's very hard to know where to draw a very fine line. The Catholic confessional is the epitome of expectation of privacy AND religion. Truly if you take that away, real bad people may never seek any help at all and keep molesting.
I'm still waiting to see the Spotlight movie. But when more that a few people in a Church KNOWS and legally fight against charges (the confessional has been broke) are guilty of a cover-up.

Someone should track all these news stories from everywhere in the world, and mail them repeatedly to the Warwick City Counsel, What would happen if people (tens, hundreds, thousands) sent letters to the Warwick City Council, and/or started picketing Warwick Council meetings or every city function?
Not particularly that they are harboring pedophiles, but the people behind the cover-ups that condone it. It's not Rome. Just a small community that will show up world-wide for all the wrong reasons.

Critique of the lastest New World Translation?
by dontfitin inhi, i'm a long-time lurker who is still in due to family.
i'm hoping someone here can help me.. is there anywhere online that i can find a critique of the new bible revision?
one of the things that really got me was when i researched about the new world translation and found how there was no basis for adding jehovah's name in the new testament, and then other areas where they translated to accommodate their interpretation.

I'll have to look up the name, but about a year ago I watched a youtube video of a noted theologian, scholar, and translator. He very publicly threw down the gauntlet, and continuous letters, for 15 years to a public debate with the Watchtower translators that mangled the NWT for their obvious benefit.
The Watchtower has always refused citing "fear of the translators safety if their identities were known".
There were no actual translators.
