JW Broadcasting - simply a platform for narcissists?

one thing i notice from sitting through a number of broadcasts is just how much these guys love their titles.

it's always brother such-and-such, member of the gb, helper to the teaching committee, etc.

it's never simply brother such-and-such, a local elder with such-and-such congregation.. it seems to me the witnesses are pretty quick to pick up on catholics who call their priests father, which at the end of the day is in much the same vein simply a title.. i suspect these titles point to a huge amount of narcissism of the part of those who revel in such titles, certainly it doesn't seem to fall in line with christ's advocation that the greatest amongst you should be be the least.

Regarding the picture in the April 2013 Watchtower, Jesus is nowhere to be found, although he should be the one depicted as seated on the throne. It is a HUGE Watchtower blunder!

"Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth. (Matthew 28:18)

For he must rule as king until God has put all enemies under his feet. (1 Corinthians 15:25)

But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him, that God may be all things to everyone. (1 Corinthians 15:28)

about half way through, david splane relates the reason for a change in wording from the old 1984 nwt reference bible to the 2013 revised nwt.

he said this was because of the recent discovery of an older manuscript that contained the greek word for overseer that was unavailable when the reference bible was being compiled.

ESV (the revision of the RSV) 2001-2011 - "Shepherd the flock of God that is among you EXERCISING OVERSIGHT, not under compulsion, but willingly AS GOD WOULD HAVE YOU, not for shameful gain, but eagerly."

New World Translation 1961 edition - "Shepherd the flock of God in your care, not under compulsion but willingly, neither for love of dishonest gain, but eagerly."

New World Translation 2013 edition - "Shepherd the flock of God under your care, SERVING AS OVERSEERS, not under compulsion, but willingly BEFORE GOD; not for love of dishonest gain, but eagerly.”

The phrase "taking the oversight thereof" (ἐπισκοποῦντες) is omitted by the NASB from 1960 to 1973, and the RSV because it is not in Sinaiticus original or Vaticanus, but the phrase is included in the NIV, RV, ASV, NRSV and the ESV because it is in the Majority, A, Sinaiticus correction and P72.

Westcott and Hort as well as the older Nestles Critical text (4th edition 1934 and 21st edition 1975) omitted the phrase "TAKING THE OVERSIGHT THEREOF" (ἐπισκοποῦντες) but now the UBS/Nestle-Aland/Vatican text puts it back [in brackets], and the newer NASBs now include the reading along with the Holman, ESV and NIV.

Splane used this as an opportunity to take a swipe at the Catholic Church when in reality they based their original decision on the judgement of Westcott and Hort. The King James Bible, based on the Textus Receptus, had it right in the first place. The discovery of Bodmer P 72 confirmed it.

About half way through, David Splane relates the reason for a change in wording from the old 1984 NWT Reference Bible to the 2013 Revised NWT. He said this was because of the recent discovery of an older manuscript that contained the Greek word for overseer that was unavailable when the Reference Bible was being compiled. So they added it to the new silver sword. However, the King James Bible renders the verse correctly. The word does not appear in the Kingdom Interlinear so I can see why it was rendered that way. But it does occur in the Emphatic Diaglott which was produced about 100 years earlier and based on Vatican 1209. Does anyone know what Splane is talking about?

Does anyone know if this is a valid argument? It sounds like the copyists would not have known Greek grammar in order to have made such a blunder by replacing the tetragrammaton with Kyrios and neglecting to put in the definite article.
