  HELP! I need Creation Book info!!

  help!~ my jw husband is making my kids read the creation book...you know the blue thing!

  and i know that there have been people who researched all the left out materials and bad quotes and mis information in that book!

  can you please direct me to those?

  It is also intresting how the socity comes up with their ideas of physics, presented in the creation book.

  They have no problem proclaiming Einstein's equation E=mc^2 for a fact in one chapter. But in another chapter, they explain how the universe were created in 10 steps. And here, their list goes: (1) a beginning; (2) a primitive earth in darkness and enshrouded in heavy gases and water; (3) light.

  Not in order with Einstein's equation. There is no differense between light and matter in an Einsteinium universe.

  And yhe list can grow long of course...

  and when talking about child upbringing he stated that some children need a spank sometimes.

  Ok, how about lifting him away from the outlet then? I don't see a big problem here either. I'm against spanking. You slaped your kid two times, no big deal. It happend once, so what? I'm against spanking as a punishment.

  Ok, you are a child psychologist? Then you probably know why spanking is going to hurt lot's of kids in areas where spanking still is on the right side of the law.

  If it is true, yes. But I live in a country where spanking is against the law. I do not think 90% of the parents I know spank their children. I would have no problem reporting it to the police if they didn't stopped when told.

  Yes. You would probably consider it violent to if someone walked up to you and slaped you.

  larc:

  There are lot's of ways to prevent children from sticking there fingers in the electrical outlet. One may be to explain why it's dangerous or in that situation to grab his hand and tell him what he did wrong. And I have not tried to tell you how to raise your kids. I only want to say that I have no respect for a parent who spanks his child. I'm not sure you did spank your kids either, you said it happend just twice.

  And do you think the kids with the loving and understanding mothers/fathers will turn out to be the ones who kill people and molest children? I don't. I rather think there is a chance that a kid who's being spanked at home developes those mental problems.

  And to larc:

  you have kids, good for you, but that doesn't make you the all-knowing-authority on the matter of child upbringing. I know you can find psychologist who states that spanking isn't going to hurt the children, and likewise you can find "scientific studies" who concludes that smoking isn't bad for your health. It all depends on who is paying for the study and what results do they want. But if you are truly objective and considers a whole bunch of studies on the matter of child upbringing. What conclusions can be drawn from that? Hell, I can even quote he watchtower here:

  "But what about discipline in the woods? Well, we just have to face the fact that these animal mothers are old-fashioned and seem not to have read any modern books on child psychology, because they surely do spank their young. "

  "In the past, children were usually spanked when that became necessary. True, the practice has been abused by incompetent parents. One result of this is that most modern child psychologists are against spanking."

  So they are all wrong or what? Maybe they don't have children and therefore doesn't know what thay are talking about?

  I don't know how to respond to the rest of you. First I have no mental illness. Second I am not a monster for being raised myself without spanking, and so on...

  And I still profess to be a member of the male class...

  I don't wan't to be stuck in an argue over what the best solution is, only to hear I don't know what I'm talking about or that I don't know what's best for your kids. I do not know what's best for yor kids. But I do know that violence isn't going to solve world's problem. You can get upset or mad or whatever you want, but I don't think you have to lower yourself that much and slap him in the face. Didn't you felt sorry for doing that afterwards?

  That's good. But other kids will get hurt, because ther parents spank them. There is a reason spanking is forbidden where I live. And it is not bible-based.

  I too think a slap at the hand is better than being electrocuted. But I do not think it's the best solution though. What is the lesson for him? I can't put my fingers in the outlet, because if I do, my dad will slap me?

  What a great example! You slap him and tells him not to slap anyone? This upsets me! You are the adult here, and you lower yourself to slap a child?

  This is interesting. Thank you for your answers.

  It is not my intention to offend anyone, but I will answer and give my view on the matter.

  First of all. Is spanking different from beating? They are both acts of violence. You can say what you want, but I know you can get prosecuted if you go out and gives someone on the street a slap in the face or even the bottom. But it's ok to spank children? Do you think it would be ok if you people when doing something wrong, maybe at work, got a slap in the face for that? I know the differs between spanking and beating, and I think they are both wrong. It sickens be to read in the stupid WT magazines how you are to spank your children out of love. Out of love? I can give the author of that article a good beating. I'll just tell him it's for his own good, and it's all an act of love.

  When two people argue, you would probably consider it to be uncivilized if they started slapping each other instead of talking and arguing. Don't you think something is wrong when you have to spank your child for getting it to listen? Or is the child stupid?

  Is it ok to slap your wife/mate when she/he doesn't listen?

  i suggest when the society quotes somebody, we should confirm that they are usin the quotation in its context because the society is a master in deceiving and taking out of context everything.
