  Month -to-month statistics for U.S

  these are the number of publishers in the u.s. 9excluding alaska and hawaii) for every month of the 2000, 2001, and 2002 service year.

  just take a look at the number of publishers in may of 2001 compare to that same month of 2002. a whopper!

  an increade of 4%!.

  :If you notice, the number of publishers (and by the way in every catefory [e.g. hours, baptisms])are growing slowly again.

  If you notice, you can't say that the numbers are growing, based on the reports for one year. It is satistically impossible to talk about a growth, when your data covers from one year to the other!

  I can help you, if you give me the data from the yearly averages over a 20 years period, (or 10 or less if you don't have more.) then I will show you how to statistically noticing trends.

  i could spend many of your minutes describing how helpful this forum has been for me, suffice it to say that it's the way things should be...offer an idea and everybody else have opportunity to put it on the table too, pro or con.

  my opinion is that jw's haven't realized (or have been denied) the benefits of such an appropriate arrangement that also provides the best method for discovery and growth.. my offering today is prompted by what i've found to be a recurring theme here...one that never fails to bother me.

  as many witnesses "get out", too often (for me) they along with now rejecting the wts, reject many of the good things the wts tried, however horribly, to represent.

  I don't agree with that. There are many good things in the bible, but if you fall into the trap of "literal rendering", you will grow into a narrow-minded fanatic.

  No offences to you, but there are "advices" in the bible, that most definitely will not make you a better person.

  Just look at 2 John 10 - "If anyone comes to you and does not bear this doctrine, do not receive him into the house, and do not speak a greeting to him."

  Would you say that anyone who applies that is a better person, than he who can be nice to all others, despite of their religious believes?

  Is the Bible Really the inspired word of God?

  i ask this question simply to see what others think....... when my daugther was 16, she came to me late one night after we had come from a meeting and asked me...."mom, what if the witnesses have it all wrong?

  there are only 66 books that we use, what if we are worshipping the wrong idea?

  " she then walked out of the room and went to bed...... god, did that open a can of worms.....because i actually started thinking on that.. however, i took it a step further....what if religion on whole had it all wrong....so i began to do research, and what i found was amazing to me..... 2timothy 3:16 began to 'ring' in my mind....."all scripture is inspired of god...." funny, didn't say just 66 books were inspired, but all scripture....then i began to break it down....what was scripture?

  That verse only applies to the books that the jews at that time called the 'scriptures', it doesn't mean the whole OT, and definitly not the NT. If you ask a witness (with a decent knowledge in the bible, he will confirm it). The witnesses apply it to the whole bible, though they even admits that isn't what the scripture says! Belive it or not, but it's true!

  Are you confident about blood?

  the issue of blood remains a tricky one.. personally, i think that the ot prohibition of blood is more of a statement of respect for life and in particular respect for the life of the animal that lost it life in providing food for man.

  similarly, it was prohibited for a calf to be cooked in the milk of its mother.. with blood transfusions, no one actually dies and, therefore, in my view blood transfusion is more a matter of personal conscience than centrally dictated law.. undeniably though, it is clear that risks are associated with blood transfusions, particularly hepatitis c.. if an alternative were available, would you not choose this every time over whole blood?

  would this not then justify the current jw stance?.

  And your children will be stillborn:

  The old bible writers didn't have any idea of what the bood really was. They thought that blood was the life itself.

  And WTBTS are still in the dark here. They can't understand that the whole bible isn't inpired, just look at Genesis 1:1-3, the biblewriters didn't at that time, knew the nature of ligtht. You can't blame them for that, but it also proves that they weren't inspired.

  no jw's have been to my door for years because they all know where i live - my mom drives by with her "car group" and points out our house, even stops to use the potty or get a pop.

  silly - i know, but mom doesn't seem to care about the shunning thing (thank goodness).. anyways - hubby and i have bought a new house and will be moving out of this congregation's area soon.

  it's a brand new house in a new area so i'm sure it'll get worked fairly quickly (new blood on the block).

  You can ask them if they are false prophets. Be sure to have all articles ready, where they claimes to be inspired and/or prophets of Jehovah.

  They will then tell you that they thought they were prophets, but are not today. And then you can ask them, what do you think Jehovah thinks about a group who claims to be his prophet and it turns out they weren't?

  i would appreciate getting opinions on the scriptural status of drug prohibition.

  is there any evidence that the early christians had any prohibitions against using drug plants?

  My personal thought is that drugs are dangerous and should be avoided/banned in society. What the bible teaches on the matter is of little concern to me. Do you think drugs are good, just because the bible doesn't mention it?

  But if you insist, I think matthew 7:12 answers your question: "Therefore all things, whatever you desire that men should do to you, do even so to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets". Do you have any idea what drug problems cost the society and the taxpayers?

  just me god and the bible!

  i will most likely be looking in others but for 15 years the new world translation has been my base bible along with so-called bible-based literature.

  and I want to add, to you who favor the NWT translation. AlanF, you said that the NWT is good because of the very litteral rendering. But when can you trust the rendering? My experience is that you have to dubble-check every word to see if the translation has used JW-rendering or not. Why not use an interlinear translation when you want to be litteral? even the NWT interlinear is good.

  I like King James Version. Very nice reading, I like that old language, it's beautiful. But you will also need a good, new interlinear translation to keep up with modern rendering of the new testament. The New Greek English Interlinear New Testament is my choice, the greek text is UBS 4th edition. (Nestle-Aland 26th).

  Society's damage limitation article.

  troubled by reports of the very problems that were supposed to be only the mark of false religions peadophilia (and hiding it) and hypocrisy (supporting the un) many honest hearted jws, it seems, have slowed down their meeting attendance and field ministry.

  what has the society done to calm these very real worries concerning actual, not imagined, problems.. .

  simple.
