My favorite hypothetical question of all time: Will Ferrell as Harry Caray to Jeff Goldblum on SNL: "It's a simple question doctor, would you eat the moon if it was made of ribs? It's not rocket science, just say yes and we'll move on!" -

Has the Watchtower ever sent out a letter that doesn't raise more questions than it answers? These guys couldn't write a set of instructions on how to nuke a pop tart without screwing something up. A guy I know once said that they can't communicate a simple set of instructions properly because they don't live in the real world and don't have to worry about implementing all the BS that they dream up. I believe that. -

Was that the annual meeting or did I view thte QVC channel instead?
by Socrateswannabe ini have just started watching the 2015 annual meeting on jw broadcasting and if the first hour of the program is any indicator, i may not be able to finish it.
the rollout of the new midweek meeting by the two gb helpers was just too much.
replete with headphone mics and witty repartee, these guys were very apple-esque, or at least that was what they intended, i think.

Viv, not really. It is simply rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. They say they are placing more emphasis on the bible so there is now a 10 minute talk on the bible reading for the week, followed by an 8 minute discussion of the material. Then there are 3 demonstrations instead of 3 student talks, then a couple more parts that are essentially what is left of the service meeting, followed by the congregation bible study. So really not that much has changed but they are rolling this out as a single meeting called Our Christian Life and Ministry. -

Replete with headphone mics and witty repartee, these guys were very Apple-esque, or at least that was what they intended, I think. In actuality it seemed more like the banter that you get on QVC when they're trying to sell you a diamond tennis bracelet. "...But wait, there's more!"... -

Some of you who have been out awhile may not have heard a lot of the newer songs. Several of them sound like they hired a Broadway composer to put them together. They don't sound very worshipful, but they are better tunes than the old days. But to answer the OP, my guess would be #14 in the current songbook, "All Things Made New". The signs of the times show God's rule has begun...I'm pretty sure we had that one back in the 60's when we had the old green songbook. -

What a loving provision by the F&DS! They cut in half the number of magazines they print because it "will help our brothers keep up with our spiritual provisions". I've been wrong about these guys--they really do have our best interests at heart! -

These guys just freak me out!
by John Aquila inok, i didnt think anything about it.
but last night some friends from across the city called me up and said that the co was visiting their hall and in his talk he said that the society is getting geared up for a massive kingdom hall and assembly hall construction project worldwide next year.
they told the publishers; "get ready".

Another explanation for the OP is that this is a rogue CO who is spreading unfounded rumors about massive building projects that exist only in his mind. -

TV.JW.ORG - October 2015: Neighborly love is more than just Field Service
by Designer Stubble inthe october 2015 jw broadcast, hosted by gerrit losch is quite positive actually.a lot of focus on "field service" needs to be balanced with other good works - supporting those in need around you - either in the congregation (witnesses) or in your classroom or neighbors (non-witnesses).
visiting and encouraging the sick and elderly is mentioned.
jesus parable of the merciful samaritan is highlighted.

In the broadcast you can see that they've already started compiling "experiences", or anecdotal evidence of their good works. 8 million JWs having multiple interactions with "worldly" people each day, and that's the best of the best of what they have done to date. But likely they will continue compiling data in the hopes of pulling the wool over the eyes of government so that they will be considered a charity. -

I agree with SIR 82's supposition. They are worried about losing their charity/tax exemption status and they plan on using this as evidence of good works in some future challenge to it. I think it's interesting and funny in a bad way that JWs are so programmed to only help other JWs, that they have to be taught how to be decent to anyone outside the congregation. If these people are Christian, wouldn't they be doing all that Loesch said plus a lot more without prompting?
