  1974____i escaped texas in my mid-20’s -- a fugitive of my own life--fleeing westward into california with a dream of- i know not what.i knew nothing useful - it was only bible knowledge.what i did know, i was full of in the same way foie gras is made.

  video games sports etc

  maybe two or three weeks ago we had a meeting at the hall about sports which was pretty bad.why do they act like they support sports or videos while they say at the same time they say you can't do 90% of anything of those things,maybe the video says you can play sports here and there but then you have the social problem of brothers and sisters looking down on you for liking sports more or liking to watch sports more than take hours out of your day sitting down going over the watchtower or reading a bible.

  is it just me more i think as a teen you should at least being doing something even if its not sports maybe music or anything a teen likes,because every time i try and talk to a teen in the kingdom hall they seem off or flat out weird,its like there a different type of teen or something they cant relate to anything that you would usually talk about i don't know there just off and i feel like locking them up and locking there brains is just horrible..

  Akid48 i forgot to mention something......Maybe the teens on your congregation are doing fun things unknowingly to you, that would be watched down by brothers and sisters as you put it and maybe they are just trying to keep things low key so they aren’t find out. So don’t take it to heart and build good friendships somewhere else that will be worth to have. Also**** education education education!!!! If you can value this because no matter what happens in your live this always can be your way out.

  i agree with the comment above.

  i think it’s all about being yourself and not assuming another identity to please those around you.

  This religion is already hard as it it, the last thing you really need is to spend life living in fear and under judgement.

  Build good trustworthy friendships around you, these are important, people that you can rely on will always be worth their weight in gold.....and take it day by day, less stress will help you to make the best decisions that are right for you.

  Hey there Akid48,

  i think I understand where your are coming from.

  I have nephews and nieces in the “tooth” and I see that all xtra activities are non existent, but the parents tend to organise outside KH activities (with jws teens) and gatherings/picnics so their children are still involved with something.

  But this is abroad in my country of birth, where I live another sibling has the difficulty to this same thing.

  i think probably depends also if the congregation has a good level of young people to join in.

  Do you know the candy crush game? A while back there was a talk in the local KH about playing it. The speaker mentioned how sisters obsessed with the game would forget to make dinner or to prepare for service and meetings.

  Ridiculous!!!

  Many went home to delete this game from their devices.

  I think this sports/ games question is very much linked with “whatever makes go astray, you must stay way from” idea. It’s again a control tactic used to keep those that want and need from enjoying themselves.

  Sports and games don’t have to be about competition or not doing your studies. It can be about learning tactics, keeping fit, building social skills and making friends... all we need in the world around us, weather we are jws or not.

  So maybe this should be your approach, maybe just maybe... as long as you are demonstrating that you are learning something positive from it, Maybe you’ll be able to get away with it.

  domestic violence in the “tooth”... is this a thing?!.

  you are starting to know me by now as i’m always full of questions... my clogs are always in motion and never stop... so another question for you to give me some guidance if you can.

  based on pasts experience or cases you might heard of or seen, what advice could you give me in helping someone that is a jehovah witness, married with another jw but lives a marriage that is plagued by emotional domestic abuse and financial control?

  no one should have to endure such treatments. I’m with you.

  And no man or woman should be submissive to each other. Should always be a partner in life instead of what the WT teaches.

  They teach us that everything is solvable under Jehovah God, so many just stay and trust that this is the best for them and their family.

  This train of thought makes so many a prisoner.

  If nothing else WT should have proper guidance on this matters... they send brothers to become lawyers, others to train and gain skills that they can use in Bethels.... why not also have a department that helps people with their mental health? After all.... they are MEANT to love and look after their flock.

  I also too have been there and done that.... married at 16....but I refuse to let anyone do that to me ever or any of my daughters.
  

  my father too thought that this was the best course of controlling my mother, so she left him taking us all with her and started again... she was a clever and strong woman, I presume that’s why she never completed her studies with JWs....she didn’t wanted to be under another control force.... thank goodness for her I missed that spot in the KH and left too.

  I applaud your honesty in your comments and from the bottom of my heart I wish that life will find you in a better path. We are strong... it’s just needed to find that strength within us.

  you prep yourself for meetings, doing your ministry and applying all that there is into your daily life.. so....i have a question... you know... my clogs.

  when you where completely in the religion, did you ever think about the impact of your way of life and religion towards others, specially those that lived around you such as good friends or family members that didn’t studied?

  when you where completely IN the religion, did you ever think about the impact of your way of life and religion towards others, specially those that lived around you such as good friends or family members that didn’t studied?

  because.... witnesses will not go over their boundaries of expectations as will be seen as a bad thing, but they expect others to just to accept their ways without questioning it. For them there’s no harm no jws to join IN on whatsoever is going.

  For example—I can go to your KH for a wedding but you’ll never come to my church and attend mine.

  so what was it like? Did you ever thought of how your lifestyle would impact on others?Any thoughts? 😇
