by lilbluekitty ini've been getting really into cooking lately!
i do have most of the same hobbies i had before, (i've always been into art and reading and watching movies and travelling) only now i can do them whenever and don't have to worry about meetings getting in the way or people telling me i spend too much time with "recreation.

smart kid
by Aussie Oz ini found out the other day that my daughter began to question the existance of god, decided that the issue of universal soveriegnty is nonsense and that praying is useless....at 10!.
so glad i didnt know!
because back then i was still an apologist and would have been bothered that she was leaning away from the jw teachings.

Ossie O, What a nice story. Chances are that she will never get baptized. You are obviously a great dad. I like how you reason instead of "preach".

Being on this forum is helping me to deal with a lot of my anger over loosing nearly 60 yrs. Reading others experiences makes me realize I didn't have it as bad as some. I am feeling a connection with people I seldom felt a the KH. Humour is also a great release and there is plenty of it here!

Recent C.O. visit: Bad news re: U.S. English meeting attendance
by Open mind invisiting a nearby town during his thursday night service talk mentioned how poor meeting attendance is in the english-speaking u.s. congregations.
he said that when the gb reduced the weekly meetings from 3 to 2, there was a brief surge in meeting attendance percentages.
after a few months it began to slide and it hasn't stopped sliding.

MM, Zid, JWGB, Violia, DaCheech, Om, Thanks for the recognition of the effort it takes for moms to drag themselves and their families to meetings. My schedule did not even account for the nights I had a talk or demo. It didn't address what happens when you have babies which is:
Everything I previously mentioned, PLUS: 7:00pm: Go back in house to change. Baby barfed on my blouse. OR Baby pooped start over. OR Toddler ran out of the house, fell down and skinned knee/or ripped pants. Start over.
7:15pm: leave for the KH
7:30pm: Arrive during the song, get dirty looks from "mature " sisters, look for seats. None in back. Sit near the front. Baby starts crying, Walk to the back, join the sisters who are already breastfeeding and talk about teething and rashes.
8:00pm: Missed half the Minestry school
8:45pm: Toddler has to pee. Wants drink.
9:00pm: Return to seat wondering how long till it's over.
9:30pm: Try to sing an unsingable song. During bro. windbags prayer-baby starts squalling. Try to quiet baby walk to back
Thank God you made through another one!

I agree with EVERY comment! I would like to add some additional thoughts on the cost vs. dividend of the meetings from the perspective of a JW wife and mother:
Midweek night meeting schedule:
3:30pm: nag kids to do homework. If they have a talk in TMS , rehurse, rehurse, rehurse.
4:30pm: start dinner
5:15pm: dish out food
5:45pm: start bathing kids or nagging them to shower (depending on age)
6:00pm: check the familys meeting clothes. Find something "appropriate" for yourself to wear that has matching stockings.
6:15pm: Fight husband for the shower for the last of the hot water
6:30pm: Throw somehing on, call it good, run a comb through your hair. Check on kids progress. Make daugher remove her black eyeshadow, tell son to take off the athletic shoes.
6:50pm: Find elder husbands bookbag and show him the gravy spot on his tie.
6:50pm-6:55pm: Husband changes tie -everyone gets in the car. Kids fight in the back seat, parents give each other dirty looks.
7:15pm- 7:30pm: arrive at KH Slap on a KH smile. Find seats, Act interested in hearing about Sister Annoyings gall bladder.
7:30pm -9:30pm: Try not to laugh. Tell the kids to pay attention, Try to keep everyone awake.
9:35pm-9:55pm Visit with the "friends". Look at Sister Rudes photos of the party I wasn't invited to. Find kids.
10:00pm-10:15pm: Drive home. Wake up sleeping kids or carry hem into the house.
10:15pm-10:30pm: Nag kids and husband to change and hang up clothes. Do the same for myself.
10:30pm-10:45pm: Let kids have a snack. Put them to bed.
10:45-11:00pm See what's left to eat. Through some leftovers on a plate.
11:00pm: Make a coctail
11:15:pm: Make another coctail bring it to bed
11:30pm: Find husband asleep in bed wach TV alone.
Midweek meetings were often an 8hr. process. Was the payoff worth it??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
