Who On This Site Would You Like To Meet?
by minimus inthere are a lot of interesting people that frequent this site.. sometimes, we get an idea of what the posters are really like in "real life".
and i'm sure i could be easily surprised by some that you think might be strong personalities because of their board presence, and in reality, they might be shy in a face to face setting.. i would enjoy meeting simon.
simon used to be terribly annoyed by my posting and now i think he's accepted with tolerance my being here.. farkel seems like a grouchy cantankerous fellow but i think he'd be very interesting company!.

Have you ever heard a talk on child molestation following a judicial reproof?
by NVR2L8 inwhen someone is reprimanded by a judicial commitee there is usually a talk given to the congregation about issues that leads to serious sins.
sometimes that talk takes you by surprise because the reproof was private and no announcement was made to the congregation.
other times you figure out why an individual was the object of a judicial commitee...i heard talks on the usage of drugs, cigarettes, pornography, bad forms of intertainment, fornication, adultery, fraud, gambling, disapproved medical treatments...but never on child abusers and mostly how to protect your children against this terrible crime.. do you think the reason there is never mention of child abuse is that if many knew there is a child molester in their midst they would pressure the elders to go to the autorities?

Never ever in 55 years. Yet, I have heard numerous announcements with talks marking teens both baptized and unbaptized for kid stuff like underage drinking, skinnydipping, etc.

The Way Things are, Not How You'd Like Them To Be
by AllTimeJeff inat 37 years of age, i'm much to young for feeling this damn old, so apologies for sounding less than idealistic, but...... we need people who will be honest and true to themselves.
having offered jws the entire decade of my 20's while they tried to suck out my soul, i have come to appreciate how little of a desire these days i have to change the world.
which was sad at first.

We agree, Jeff. I don't believe in wasting my time trying to empty a swimming pool with a teacup! The WT$ is't going anywhere soon. (except maybe out of Brooklyn). I'm new in my journey out and have much to learn. I only wish I knew what I know now 50 years ago!

I agree that living well is the best revenge. Still, I applaud the efforts of those who want to do more. Why should any of us care if some want to work behind the scenes gathering intel and using it stratigically. If a bright light is pointed on a bunch of cockroaches they scatter--possibly causing less damage. If it weren't for this forum and the efforts of others to provide info to those who are having doubts, hubby and I would still be stuck in the cult.
While there will probably always be doomsday cults, most don't teach child sacrifice is necessary to please God. Jehovah's Witnesses do. It is for this reason that I support efforts to enlighten/educate. The youth need access to accurate info in order to make an informed decision to break the "born in" cycle.
Illistration:It's important to kill the eggs if your pet has fleas . The same is true with the WTBT$. If the youth learn TTATT before reproducing, eventually the older ones will simply die off. The added bonus is that they will have few if any wasted years.
The difference between slaving for the Borg and slaving to end the Borg is the slave can quit the latter if he chooses.

Even if the WT$ went up in smoke tomorrow my relatives would still avoid me due to the embarassament they would feel for the way they have treated hubby and me. As far as I'm concerned the Borg is just where they belong. However, I do know some very sweet JWs who deserve be free of their enslavement. For them (and others like them) and for all the innocent children who have no choice, i want the whole organization to fold.

1975/Armageddon!

an old acquaintance way back from the h20 discussion board days has given me a link to a talk given at an assembly by the then district overseer duggan, that he had recorded on a cassette tape.
amazingly, he still had the tape and made it into and mp3 file and has shared it.

I had the same problem as kurtbethel. I assume this talk was given by Lester Duggan? If so, He served my ca. cong as a CO in the early 70's. He and his wife Aggie ate dinner at our house and we worked with them in FS. I liked them more than most traveling overseers they were very appreciative of our hospitality and sent a thank you as well.
Unfortunately, he bought into the 1975 hypeof the WT$. His wife died first. She was hardly cold and he remarried a sister 1/2 his age. He died years ago.
