Has anyone heard of "Secret Disfellowshipping" by Jehovah's Witnesses? Menlo Park Ca. Congregation. Update.

called the mrs and me to say "wow- you have to google this" we did...came here to jwn ...became members..and the rest is history.. in the last nine months i have been calling and emailing contacts in the silicon valley for verification on the societies theft and forced sale of the menlo park kingdom hall (near the new facebook heaquarters) because the story seemed...a little far fetched.
every reliable contact i made has confirmed what juan reported.

YES YES, Ripvanwinkle, Those Bros were dealt with trecherously! Not to mention the poor and elderly forced to travel a much longer distance to the KH.
Flipper, great post! More need to stand up to these WT$ cowards like you did. Unfortunately for the 3 from Menlo Park, the appeal committee is headed by an Elder with messy issues. It is bound to turn out bad for them. I just hope this mess wakes them up.

by DATA-DOG ini have a friend who met with a couple of elders recently and i was told things went well, no issues.
well a couple weeks later they stopped by my friends place, ( just to say hi ) right before they left they said, " hey can we meet again?
my friend said, " sure ".

RVW, I agree with your post. In this case, the WTS tried to force the Elders/officers of the Menlo Park congregation/corp. to take on the debt of a remodel loan they didn't want. Why didn't they want it? Because all they needed to do is clean the carpet and seats at a cost of a few hundred $.
The WT$ wanted them to take on a loan of about $40,000 for materials that they buy for pennys on the dollar. The proverbial $500.00 toilet seat that is not technically money laundering because it's already tax free. What it becomes is a COMPULSARY DONATION back to the society. THEN the WT$ becomes a leinholder on the title. Instead of the local congregation owning the hall, the WT$ takes title.
This land had appreciated to about 2,000.000.00 because it is smack dab in the middle of the Silicon Valley. There was NO WAY the WT$ was going to let some poor, mostly Black, cong keep that jucy property. In this case the remodel was simply an excuse to get control of the TITLE so they could sell it underneath them and pocket the profit. (also tax free)

i finally after 25 years of dealing with him and the jws and a litany of other shit, told him two weeks ago i want out.
he wrote me a letter this week and made a list of allllll the things he hates: about my beliefs, the fact that i left jehovah, broke my vows to god, my hobbies, celebrations, what i watch on tv, my parenting, keeping the kids out of the jws, not having any friends....and then said well i dont hate "you".

You are hurt and angry. You have every right to those feelings. I was too, when i found out my ex had fallen for someone else. I was furious at her because she had the affair knowing he was married with children. In time, I came to realize she DESERVED him and visa versa and moved on. In my case I eventually THANKED her for taking him off my hands. It wasn't long before she called me to cry about how he dumped HER. "I believed his lies", she sobbed. LOL
It's not easy to start over when you have spent so many years in bad marriage and a cult as well. Believe me, I can empathise. Stay strong, don't get sucked into his personal life. JGnat has good advice about bartering for his precious "scriptural freedom". He wants it let him pay for it!
Get even by living a wonderful free life.

Is the Governing Body EVIL or IGNORANT?
by cedars insome of you will have noticed that i've been paying a lot of attention to the governing body recently.
this is because most jehovah's witnesses venerate them collectively (even if they can't name them individually), and i feel this makes it important to understand this group of men properly and expose their mindset as individuals.
as the saying goes, i feel it's important to "know your enemy".. i realize it's very convenient to think of the governing body as being "evil" when we consider that they are ultimately responsible for all the damaging jw teachings and beliefs.

Quendi, How can anyone read your post and make a different conclusion? Way back in 1956 Bill Cetnar had serious issues with the NWT and thoroughly explained his reasons to those in charge (this is before the GB arrangement). What happened? He was DFed and thrown out of Bethel. He was a family friend at the time so I know this 1st hand.
Decade after decade has passed. Serious Bible students with no adjenda other than to arrive at the truth have related their findings to the GB only to find the valid information dismissed or worse, DFed. Some of these people have even been of the remnant. So much for the "Faithful and Discrete Slave" dispensing the food at the proper time. They are NEVER asked for their opinion and when they offer it it is rejected. The GB has inserted itself between the flock and Jesus. Were the PHarasees ignorant? Hardly!
I think some are confusing ignorance with stupidy when it comes to the GB. They are probably ignorant of how the law works in the case of their legal matters. But they are definately NOT ignorant about their teachings and prophesys being wrong. They have been told repetedly. Instead of changing, they choose to kill the messengers.
And yes, they are cowards with good reason. They know what will happen if they disagree with the majority.

JeffT, You got it buddy! What Elder wants to have to go BK because he's got to pay for defending/loosing a lawsuit. I'll bet the wife and kids would go ballistic if they lost their home, car, and other assets to old sister blind who slipped on the ice at the KH. Etc. etc......

The reason the individual congregation corporations are shams is that the law says you can't have it both ways.
Either cong Elders are under the jurisdiction of the WBTS and must do what they say OR They are independant corporations.(kind of like a franchise)
The WBTS doesn't want to be legally or financially responsibile for the decisions the Elders make in their respective congregations. The WTBTS doesn't want to pay out any more money on lawsuits. In an attempt to accomplish this goal, they have set up countless corporations including making each cong its OWN corporation.
The problem is that IF the cong is legally and financially SEPARATE then they are entitled to make their OWN financial decisions.THEY NO LONGER ANSWER to the WTBTS. The society can't tell them who to hire and fire. (disfellowshipping those elders) They can't seize their paid for KH. They can't seize their bank accounts. Yet, this is exactly what happened at Menlo Park. They thus pierced their own corporate veil.
They want the "veil" of non-responsibility for lawsuits. They want to keep at arms length when it is in their financial interest to do so but at the same time they want to micromanage each one.

by cedars inin the latest october 15th 2012 watchtower (page 13).... "because of what they perceive as defects in the elders, some individuals who engage in serious wrongdoing in the congregation have refused to appear before a committee of elders assigned to help them.
this could be likened to a patient who loses out on the benefits of a treatment because he does not like something about the doctor.".
sounds like they're now trying to stigmatize those who try to avoid judical action.

I agree with all the coments so far. Attending a comittee meeting with these spiritual hacks is pointless for those who have already awakened.
However, those that still believe that the Watchtower is Gods "spirited directed organization" probably should attend their trial/meeting. The shock of being beaten when they came in for help might be what they actually NEED to jolt them into leaving for good. I say this because I have a JW friend who constantly complains about nearly everything about the GB and the Elders yet refuses to quit saying "We need to wait on Jah to correct things" If he were disfellowshipped I'm pretty sure he would not come back.
In other words he thinks the doctors just need a little tweaking and they would be fine. He needs them to botch his "operation" before he gets it.

Sept. 15th WT - WT Society Hypocritically Disses " Materialistic " JW's
by flipper inas many of us are aware the wt society has done quite nicely in a material way for themselves.
the sales of properties of the former " bethel " in brooklyn amassed them millions of more $$$$ .
they have relocated into upstate new york and are building like wildmen.
