Recently I was talking to my MIL, ( an elderly 2ond gen Dub) about an experience hubby had at work. I wanted to anti-Witness. i told her that Baalam was sent on a sales call where the client turned out to be an inactive sister. As you can imagine they had a lot to talk about. I explained that she has many serious medical and financial problems. the 1st thing out of MILs mouth was NOT "how is she?" It was "tell him he can count the time!" Sheeeeeeesh!!!!!!!!!!!! I replied, "Well Baalam is just as inactive as she is so who counts time on who in that case? I think counting time make people become TERRIBLE Christians, worried more about statistics than people." She was shamed and showed it. She actually agreed with me! cool huh?

intel on warwick project
by stuckinamovement inthe committee assigned to build the new complex was called into a meeting with the governing body.
they were told " you finish this project by january 1 2017. we want the keys to the complex and will be headquartered there by that date, do you understand?".
when the brothers protested and said that it would take 6 years for the project to be complete and if they moved that fast there would be many mistakes, the gb responded, "we don't care, that is your deadline".

Fed up with the way JWs treat those who can no longer believe
by hotspur inmy favourite uncle died about two years ago (non-witness) and my mother couldn't tell me .
earlier today i went round to the cathedral square of the city where i work for some lunch and i had the misfortune to sit near to an ol'boy witnessing to some people who were too polite to respond.
he kept going on about truth.

Hotspur, OMG, I was about to start a similar thread! Hubby and i are not Dfed or DAed nor have we ever said a word about disblief to ANY fam member. Yet, I have had 2 uncles (Both JW) die without anyone telling me. I can accept that my family doesn't want us at their reunions, campouts.,weddings etc. but not tell me about DEATHS???? One of these uncles was in my parents will to be my guardian should they both die. I dearly loved him so to find out via the "grapevine" months after the fact really hurt. The thing I try to remember is that I was spared suffering through 2 Witness memorials/informercials. You were too.

Adventurousone, Hi to you and hubby too! you are too kind. On another thread i said that my opinion is that if a persons nature is to be caring and kind they will tend be that way regardless /in spite of their religion. OTOH, if a person is an ass %^ by nature he will be even worse with authority or in a religion/cult.

caliber, funny you should mention your experience about your brief work at a church. I remember the days when you were NOT to do any work whatsoever for a religious org. In fact, a dub was not to even shop at a Salvation Army store etc. Yet some years later our cong rented the Catholic Social services building for their memorial. (I kid you not!) The catholic sign is promanant on the building. Hubby and I were horrified when we(active JWs at the time) drove into the parking lot and saw it. How's THAT for hypocracy? Excuse me for going off topic but after all, it's MY thread.

Policing the Flock: Does it vary from country to country?
by Londo111 inso many stories ive read on jwn shows that the policing the flock is alive and well.
elders come after faders, especially if they are suspected of the dreaded a-word, the jw scarlet letter, a for apostasy.
if elders are gunning for a person, they will do whatever it takes.. .

IMO, Not only does it vary country to country, cong to cong, elder to elder but accused to accused. by this i mean my former FIL performed numerous steakouts and gleefully recounted the stories in full detail. (so much for confidentiality) OTOH, when the accused were his sons....................The whole thing was swept under the carpet and the persons who made the accusations suddenly found themselves in comittee meetings on the hotseat.
