AHHHHH 1968-69, my last 2 years of HS, dating my wild (son-of the-PO) fiance. We would sing with the car radio at the top of our lungs "All along the Watchtower" and laugh at the irony. We were way too smart at this age to try to bring "drug culture" or any other Questionable records into our homes. I already had gone through the fits of anger and record tossing starting with the Beatles who my father called "long haired faggots". This kind of parenting breaks down all communication and forces the child to do things behind their unreasonable parents' back. It seems the older the parents were in the late 60's and 70's the more they over-reacted to the music of the times because it was completely different that what THEY were listening to as teens in the 30's and early 40's. From the late 50's on music hasn't changed all that much so the parents are not as uncomfortable with their kids music. In fact it's not that uncommon for todays parents and children to actually (gasp) like the SAME music........MY .02

My Jimi Hendrix experience
by confusedandalone inas a 13 year old a friend of mine had a jimi hendrix record and told me if we play it backwards that they said words.
he bought the record from a shop not far from where we lived and we were the only family that still had a record player.
so we played the record and i spun it backwards andnothing happened.

Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT false prophets
by SloppyJoe intonight on the service meeting we discussed why jws are not false prophets.
of the ten minute part two were spent discussing that jws just had wrong expectations and only very minor changes over the years although nothing specific was mentioned.
the other eight focused on the core bible truths that have remained the same over the years.

ADCMS, quoted the '72 watchtower which said "who today are known as Jehovah's Christian Witnesses." LOL JW's haven't been called Jehovah's CHRISTIAN Witnesses since R Franz was ousted. The WTBT$ can't even remain consistant with their NAME much less anything else.

In your own words,,,,,,
by label licker inplease tell my thirty-six year old niece what you would tell all your loved ones if they were to go back to the cult because they wanted to see their loved ones again.. she was df'd at sixteen for being a teenager with an anxiety disorder, her dad had walked out on her and her family(2 other sisters) when they were young and never supported them or the mother.
all of them had to live with their grandmother.
after the last child left home, their father has their mother move back in with him.

April, its nearly midnight and I'm pretty tired. I'm writing this with tears falling on the keyboard. I was going to start a thread asking if there was anyone out there who is missing their mother- whether she has died or is emotionally unavailable due to the cult or something else. Hubby has no children and I have one grown child who doesn't have much need for me in her life. We would like to eventually take in a couple of foster children but are not in a position to do this right now. April, I don't know you but I would like to. I know first hand what it is like to ache for a mothers unconditional love-but to never quite measure up. I also know the burning desire to have my own children, only to experience many years of infertility. Eventually, I was blessed with a son and then a daughter but life reared it's ugly head and my children and I became estranged when I divorced their father and remarried. My son came back to me some years ago only to die in an accident at age 21. April, there are loving people here who are hurting and yearn for someone to nurture and love. I would consider it an honor if you would PM me.

Julia, Confusedandalone, was asked by his father for $10,000. It seems said father racked up huge credit card bills in order to support CandA's brother's pioneering and stay at beth-hell. The ever-so-rightious- brother is far too busy doing his "theocratic work" to bother paying back dad. Sooooooooo.... sucessful "apostate" son is asked to fork over the money quickly because it would bother daddy's conshunz to take money from someone DFed.

Dearest Confusedandalone, hubby and I have been following your story and want to thank you for sharing what has to be extremely painful. You have no idea how many you are helping. Most of us (me) want to curl into the fetal position when things get as stressful as you have been experiencing. By final chapter I hope you mean JW's NOT JWN!!!!

Please Share one of your Favourite Quotations
by cofty inhave you ever come across words that resonate with you?
it doesn't have to be a great gem of wisdom, just something that is meaningful to you.. please share, and if you want to, tell us why it's meaningful to you.. here is something that made me nod when i first read it.... .
"fortunate are those who have learned to see, in the wild things of nature, something to be loved, something to be wondered at, something to be reverenced, for they have found the key to a never-failing source of recreation and refreshment".

Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word For The WTBTS To Say!
by JW GoneBad insorry to raymond and cynthia franz for expelling them on trumped-up charges and forcing them from there bethel home.. sorry for demonizing many of raymond's accomplishmets, such as 'the aid to bible understanding' (the blue book) that he had a hand in putting together and that too many old timers remember who grew fond of reading to expand their bible knowledge.. sorry to oompa for disfellowshipping him and causing him to be shunned to the point where he couldn't take it any longer and wound up taking his own life.
.
sorry seems to be the hardest word for the wtbts to say!.

Mindnumbed, hit the nail squarely on the head by stating the reasons WHY no apology will ever be issued for anything of any substance.

I lived in near Sacramento then the East bay area during the late 60's Those were the best years of my life. There was a party after EVERY CA and DA as well as graduation partys, weddings, and partys for no reason. ALL featured great music and dancing. I looove to dance so the food and booze didn't matter much to me. (but it sure does now LOL) My boyfriend (who I married) and I went to at least one great party a month. I loved the interacial aspect of these events bc I loved "soul music" and dances. The black bros were so cool and loved to teach us the "skate" the "bounce" etc. Good times before the society became Natzis and squelched all the fun out of life!
