There is no doubt that stress causes or exaserbates illness. JW life is nothing but stressful. The more you slave for the Borg the sicker you get. In addition, since illness is the only excused absence for meetings and FS it is easy to see why hyperchondriacs abound in the congs. If you aren't genuinely plagued with an illness---make one up!

Where Do You NOW Think Wickedness Comes From? The Devil or... ?
by LoisLane looking for Superman ini think wickedness comes from evil people.. there are many people in between the two extremes of, overly good people and overly evil persons.. i do not believe in a devil.. i think he is a concept dreampt up by evil ones to blame bad behavior, as a red herring, on anyone but themselves.. the watchtower makes up attrocious lies, brow beats good people not to better themselves,.
all the while, they are building their own empire.. they say, do not isiolate yourself.
it is not good for you.. but if you don't agree with them and their current teachings, you will be shunned, disfellowshipped.. that can and does, have earth shattering results.. so many things, i was taught as a born in, are now considered apostate teachings.

A follow up question: Is evil dependent on INTENT? IE: Child abuse from a parent who was himself abused? I personally think there is personal moral responsibility. Just because a person has an urge to do something like rape, incest, or pedeophilia, does NOT make it natural or ok. IMO they are evil. Is covering up these things (like he WTS does) NOT evil? How can any good come of these things?

I don't think I understand. I, like many are not sure about a PERSON named Satan. Yet does that mean there is no such thing as evil? Well, I have observed that most on this board have condemed pedophilia and incest as evil. Am I wrong? In fact, simply covering these things up by the WTS is condemed on this site by everyone. How then, can it be said it those acts are not evil?

JW's planning for retirement
by FirstLastName ini had an interesting discussion with a jw family member recently and he brought up his plans for retirement.
according to his age bracket, this will not be for another 20 years or so.
he plans to buy land, build a house, move the parents nearby.

LHG, I couldn't agree with you more. In another thread about the appearent sadness within the RandF my observation was that there are 2 main catagories of JWs. #1: The uber believiers who obey each and every rule and suggestion from the leadership. THESE are the weary, sad, and unprepared ones. And like you said, tend to want more company. So they but into others business trying to find some infraction especially among those who seem more happy #2: The ones who do their own thing when away from the KH. These KEEP THEIR MOUTHS SHUT and associate ONLY with like minded ones. They have more education, better jobs, take vacations, and plan/planned for retirement. These dubs are usually born in thus they have a big family support system. These are the happiest of dubs. .

by LouBelle ini have been rather scarce i know, i've been so very busy with work that i don't really have much time to log on, and we had someone come into our home and steal our laptop, so haven't been able to log on at home either.. work is still going very well.
it's not easy cold selling, but i've had a good few ads come in and keep me ticking over.
every now and again i pop because i simply don't know what else management want me to do, i'm doing everything i can.

so it has been a while since i have given serious thot to this crap.
but my eyes were opened this last 4th of july at lake tahoe when about 50 of us at a camp site sat and related all the personal adventures of trying to extricate oneself from this insidious cult!

Do you detect an underlying sadness ?
by Phizzy inwhenever i talk to jw's, and even in some of the jw official videos, i detect a definite vibe of sadness coming off these people.. i am very sensitive to "atmospheres" and to peoples emotional state, you wouldn't think so, because more often than not i do not react to what i detect, i just let people get on with it.. but i do get this feeling that they are sad, probably because very, very, very deep down they realise that it is all false, maybe ?.

The more obedient the JW the more tired and sad he is. Show me a happy Witness (and I know some) I'll show you someone who doesn't do what they are "supposed to". The problem with that is, when the self-rightous hard workers see that some JWs have fun or let their kids have fun, they gossip and sometimes slander them out of jealousy. I know, it happened to me. FUN is a four letter word in Watchtowerland.
