Are You Raising An Introvert?
by darth frosty inits not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.
it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.
this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

Apog, It's just penetrating my brain how an introvert is unlikely to say what the problem is so all the while we extros either think things are ok or are clueless how we contribute to the friction. We ASSume that because we have no trouble expressing our feelings and emotions that others are the same. If they seem distant we ASSume they don't like us, are mad at us, or are stuck up. This is because if we withdraw we ARE hurt, angry, or don't like the person. WOW what an eye-opener this thread is!

I am almost in tears right now. I am ashamed to say I am an extravert who has never had a clue about intraverts until reading this thread. I now realize my firstborn was an intravert trying to cope withan extravert little sister. I had no idea he needed personal space and that it was my responsibility as a parent to see to it that he got it. I didn't interceed until little sis was screaming bloody murder after being pounded by brother. At this point brother would catch hell for hurting her. This went on every day all day long and I chocked it up to jealousy. Fortunately, I had a chance before he died to tell him I was sorry for appearing to favor his sister and that I loved him very much. This also explains why it took me so long to leave the Borg. I always managed to fit in. No wonder, I'm an obedient extravert. No need to read "worldly books on parenting, psychology and personal development. I feel like an ass.

Not on JW.org : Question for Jehovah's Witnesses elders: If pants have Pagan origins, is DENIM demonized ?
by Balaamsass2 ina yound sister was severely counciled by the elders for wearing a denim "jean skirt" to the hall last year.
she left with tears in her eyes and never returned.. for the last 50 years denim jeans have been banned at the brooklyn bethel breakfast table.. i understand denim jeans are banned even by tourists visiting beth ell.
billy explained the pants situation in past posts.. so my questions are: what other instances are there of denim bans by watchtower ?

Also what about denim fractions? Is it ok to have denim trim on your skirt? What about faux denim? Is that getting dangerously close to the "unclean thing"?

I've seen it too. A 20-somthing son of a former JW friend of mine replaced his FB profile pic with the logo. It makes my heart sink to see the promising smart funny attractive kids of my friends happily drinking the kool-aid and offering it to others.

Hi sowhatnow, a while back I started a thread titled "Were you "diciplined" after the meetings?" Back in the 50's when I was little I was the only youngster in the cong. I would get the look and a wisper "wait till we get home." Then an unbearable feeling of dread set in as I knew what awaited me after the meeting. My dad didn't want the others to know he beat his toddler with a belt and he didn't want my screams to make him look bad as he was the PO. So that phrase is a sad one for me to this day.

Did you ever actually believe the JW fantasy version of "Paradise"?
by Darth Fader The Sequel ini am sure this topic has probably been discussed many times before but,......... i would like reassurance that i am not the only one who gagged every time i heard a jw pontificating on their fantasy version of what "paradise" will be like.
particularly when it comes to the animals.
more specifically, that the animals will all become vegetarians.

As a born in I believed in a paradise earth the same as I believed the sky is blue and and grass is green. Duh.... Jehovah could and would satisfy the desire of every living thing. That worked great for me until It was brought out in some talk that there would have to be a lot of oversight after the big A by the "Princes"/Elders. After the clean up they would assign where we would live etc. Whaaaattttt??? He continued, "If you don't get along with ALL your brothers you might be in for a rude awakening. You may be assigned to live next to the one you dislike." Oh noooooooooo!!!! I was in the same cong with some in-laws I detest and and the feeling is mutual. Now I 'm told some sadistic Elder is going to teach me a lesson in paradise by making me misrable?? This rediculous talk actually helped me think. Hmmmmm
