Donald Trump out trumped by Jehovah's Witnesses
by jwleaks in17 july 2015 .
hot springs, ark.
a large highway sign on the drive to the hot springs convention center advertises the town proudly as the boyhood home of president bill clinton.. but republican presidential candidate donald trump was the big name in town here friday night, where he keynoted the states annual gop dinner, and reminded a crowd of about 1,000 attendees: by the way, hillary clinton, with her husband, deserted arkansas.. .... the convention center was teeming with a surprisingly diverse crowd for a trump dinner just before his arrival.

Freegirl, "I am sure many people can thank eldubs like that for our exodus from the cult"
Very true. I would like to say that the screwy doctrine set me free but noooo I wasn't willing to scrutinize until loved ones and myself were brutally mistreated by HQ and their ruling class. Had they been the least bit loving I would still be captive to the cult. ((((shudder)))))

The conductors always had a dilemma when calling on young children and toddlers. Do you refer to a 3 year old as Bro Smith? Somewhere along the line the society directed them to address unbabtized ones by their first names only without Bro/Sis beforehand. Yet, that was weird when an adult was close to baptism, raised their hand and called called Bob or Suzie.
Only a cult would make rules about this!

J A, My stepfather was baptized in the late 1930's and died in the late 80's. When I was looking through his things I found at least 15 or more Bible translations NOT published by the WTBT$. They were well worn with his notes in the margins.
Back in the day comparing a text in multiple translations/versions was encouraged. It was called studying. He would carry on deep discussions with other Dubs and even (gasp!) speculate. He died a revered elder.
When did the society's attitude change? Answer: after Ray F and company were ousted. From that time on, no Bible was to be used but the NWT. If they could, they would have removed the verse about the ...."Boreans carefully examining the Scriptures daily to see IF these things were so."

The Book of Mormon has been a hit on Broadway. Why not do the same with Watchtower? This guy could play the lead. I want to play the mean bi**h in the laundry! LOL -

What Road Would You Choose---IF?

J A, "That's a scary thought."
It is a little scary but it keeps me from resenting my parents or the religion more than I already do. I'm sure there are countless born in's whose parents would have never met but for a JW convention. All we can do is be glad we are alive, be glad we know ttatt and make the best out of our situations.

My parents met at a DC. They lived far from each other and had absolutely NOTHING in common except for the "truth". Without the JW religion I wouldn't exist.
In a better world my mother would have divorced my abusive alcoholic father when I was a baby and left the religion. Then, even though she was a narcissistic drug addict, I would have been spared much of my childhood trauma.
I would have never met my first husband who I was pressured into marrying at 17. I loved musical theater and fashion but was also very interested in business law and public speaking (a form of acting lol). Who knows what would have happened??
The only good things that came out of my being a Dub were my children. The best thing is that my surviving daughter did go to college, did have a fashion career, and now is a successful publicist living a life better than I ever dreamed of. :)
