One Year Later - A Thank You to Tony Morris.

i wanted to send you a note of "thanks" on this special day.. why is this day special, you may ask?

one year ago today, you, tony, woke me up to the fact that the governing body could not have jehovah's blessing or direction.. last year, on november 8th & 9th, 2014, the united states branch visit was broadcast to over 1,000,000 jehovah's witnesses across the country.. as i sat at the kingdom hall listening to the "historic occasion," i was ignoring certain doubts that had surfaced in the few months prior.

Congrats to you Cappy and your family for exiting the cult and gaining your freedom. We apostates can't match the effectiveness of the GB to wake people up.

One example is a long time JW friend of ours who has had doubts about the Borg for years but has clung to it nevertheless. Hubby and I have said all we could think of to help him reason and wake up with little or no effect. Enter TM3 last year, then ARC. The Governing Idiots and Liars by their own words convinced him there is NO Holy spirit anywhere near these guys. He now believes TTATT and is in the process of a fade. :)

a non-witness insider told me this week that the wts has financial problems.

that lead to halting down their building plans and lay off the special pioneers and.

bethelites.. the reason of the financial stagnation is beside some bad investments,.

I recently posed a hypothetical question to hubby. "What would you do if you learned TTATT and were a career Bethelite?" "What if you were in the inner circle of trust?" We both decided if we had any access to WT money it would be tempting to pay ourselves back for our long service. (embezzle and form a phony account overseas) If that were not feasible we would stay at Bethel as long as we could and work against WT interests as much as possible without being caught. Leaking confidential info being a top priority.

Who can be sure a few others are not doing these very things?

How confident are you about various so called facts?

no facts about the world are absolutely certain.

that being the case i wonder how others would rank amd rate their confidence in various factual statements about the world.

i am going to rate my confidence in ten items of "knowledge" as a percentage.

I would like to comment on #16 because it is the only question for which have a radically different opinion.

My father and grandmother personally knew JFR. Father was a close associate and occasional traveling companion of Knoor. He spent less time with Franz. Mom was baptized in Seattle 1937 alongside Max Larson who took her out on a date later that night. He made it clear to her on the boat ride he's not gay.

Hubby spent over a year at Bethel as the main Chef. He brought specially prepared dishes to the private rooms of Franz and others at the top. He spent time observing Dave Mercanti (sp?) Franz's virtual lifelong "assistant". Hubby is 99.99% sure they prefer same sex. The bigger question is were/are they practicing or NON practicing? Who knows? Who cares? Wait.......

Ordinarily it's indeed nobody's business except that I (for one) would expect the attitudes and policies of the organization to reflect the leadership at the top and visa versa. Hypocrisy anyone?

i was sitting at the recent circuit assembly that i attended, (the things i do for sis blues) and the baptism talk was under way .

i admit that my mind was more on my imminent packed lunch and flask of coffee but i distinctly heard the speaker make the statement that heads this thread and cite a wt reference.. you what !

i was shocked....... how can they possibly make such an arrogant statement ?

I Hate the Sound of the Word Jehovah

listening to clips of the latest manipulative video from the watchtower i realised how much i detest that word - jehovah.. sometimes i have thought it would be interesting to observe a meeting or part of a convention.

every time i heard that word i would be unable to stay in my seat.. i have a visceral reaction every time i hear it.

it stands for so much that i have contempt for.

I agree Cofty. The word sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard. So glad I'm no longer around anyone ho uses it.

Clambake, congrats on your new little one. Don't you know that a "good" JW mom gives birth on Friday goes home on Saturday and lugs baby and heavily loaded diaper bag to the meeting Sunday?

so, when people post about being shunned by their friends, i've heard several posters say things like, "their friendship is conditional.

real friendships aren't conditional.".

i'm sorry, but that just isn't really true.. if you and i were friends, there are conditions.

I spent this past weekend with my daughters closest friends who are in their thirty's. After finding out it was my first Halloween and why, they all wanted to know what triggered such a drastic change in me and my life.

Of course, they didn't want or need the long answer so I really had to think on my feet. I said there were many many factors but the first brick in the wall to fall was how my second husband and I were treated by the congregation when we married 16 years ago. He was an elder and I was exemplary but there was no bridal shower no party not even a greeting card. I explained that we were all but shunned by our "friends" but had no clue why. Years later i found out my scripturally divorced apostate DFed ex called the elders and told them he had been sleeping with me and I was not free to remarry. I told daughter's friends that not one of my so-called friends bothered to ask ME if the rumors were true.

Her friend's reply was "What conditional friends!" I agreed not wanting to split hairs. In the context of our discussion they were right. Yet I completely agree there are deal- breakers for most any relationship.

My first Halloween Party

i didn't know what to expect but i was really excited to be invited to accompany my daughter and her closest friends to a large (300+) party held at a famous hot spot.

Hi again. looks like my "soon" was more like Watchtower soon. :)

Some of you are wondering why my daughter has no empathy for ex- JW's. The answer is: her experience being raised a JW was polar opposite from ours. I made sure she had an idyllic childhood. (She was spoiled) She was baptized at 19 after she left home and started college. She left with her best friend 2 years later. She gave nothing, sacrificed nothing and after leaving lost nothing.

Truthfully, I invited myself to the party. I have been begging for three years to come to one of her Halloween parties. The answer was always "Mom, they're too wild for you." This year I wouldn't take no for an answer. The truth is she just didn't want me. I'm still in the dark about why that is.

About the costumes: She asked to be Ariel from Disney's Little Mermaid. I said, "Only if I can be Ursula." She relented and I went to work on a lavish Broadway version of the characters. The bad news: There are no pictures. That in itself is a long story. However, I'm going to have her send them back to me. (too bulky for the plane) I will take and post pics when I can.
