Sorry, Postate, it is 3,001 miles one way from Monterey to NYC. But we were ALL LOSERS stuck with parents who were religious fanatics.

What is the longest distance you drove to attend a summer Convention?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inhere is a photo of the milwaukee brewers ( american baseball team) county stadium.
for some reason, we were assigned this outdoor stadium for our 1975 four-day summer convention.
our congregation was located 90 miles away on the north side of chicago.. some congregation members stayed at milwaukee hotels for the four-day convention.

LV101, I was there in 1969. Is that the one you were referring to? At that time I lived in Pleasant Hill Ca. About 5-6 hours.
Blondie, My family and I went to The Rose Bowl in '63 also. I was a freckle-faced girl of 11. It was so hot, one day my aunt fainted.

New Boy, My family drove from Monterey Ca. to NYC in 1958. It was an International convention that lasted a MISERABLE 8 days. The only DC in the USA that year. Yankee Stadium and Polo Grounds had almost 254,000 on the last day. I was only 6 but I have vivid memories.

My father, his mother, and my son.
Why? I never met my grandmother. She died before I was born. I would like to ask her what attracted her to the teachings of Pastor Russel. That would be interesting.
My father died when I was still a snotty teenager. I understand him so much better now and would like to have a cocktail and an adult conversation with him.
I would give anything to have just one more day with my son. He would be nearly 37 years old now. I would love to introduce him to my father.
Four generations that barely overlapped. One gone 70 years ago one gone 50 years ago and one gone 15 years ago. Imagine their reactions to the JW.Borg changes!

Carla, What if this "spiritual couple" was invited to Bethel and he got promoted to GB 3.0 and THEN it came out that "she" was a "he" and the husband, of course, knew and concealed it all along. Hahaha

What would happen IF ...? If the New Light Crowd and the Old Light crowd ...?
by Terry inwhat would happen?
(a thought experiment) what if it were possible to gather bible students from pastor russell's day in a large auditorium with the rutherford era followers, and then bring in the brother knorr (my era) crowd along with present day jw's and get them chatting with each other?all that new light with all that old light (which thought it had new light) would be in for a shock.would they humble themselves and decide present day governing body doctrine changes and tv style begging for money was acceptable?what do you think?i think it would be chaos and denunciation.
i could be wrong, buti don't think so..

My Paternal Grandmother joined IBSA as a young married woman about 1903. Her oldest daughter (my Aunt) was baptized in 1926 as a Bible Student after Rutherfraud took over. My grandmother and aunt stayed with the original group and had the heavenly hope. My father and his brother were baptized in1936 after they took the name Jehovah's Witnesses and had the earthly hope. Nobody thought it was weird. LOL In fact, my Aunt married an "other sheep" man.
Before Grandma died in 1950, Knoor was Pres. She was a true believer and went along with the changes in her lifetime. My Aunt died in 2004 ONE DAY after turning 100 years old! She too was able to adjust to the many changes without any noticeable disagreement.
My guess is that they would go along to get along. As has already been said, when the changes are gradual they are often accepted.
OTOH, my father who died in 1969 was the kind of zealot who had a quick trigger + hot temper. If he were alive today he would be 112 YO. But if had lived to know of The UN scandal, Gays at Bethel, CA cover-ups, and Blood Fractions to name a few, he would be Outspokenly Out!
Not everyone is the same - even in the same family.I believe the crazy unrecognizable religion JWs has become lately though, especially with the Idolatry of the GB, would distress ALL of those old-timers.

We had a transgender who became a woman. When she started studying she was told she had to use the male restroom and dress and act like a male. She was horrified and quit. Good!

When I was in the WT policy was to make the person live as the sex they were born. So theoretically, this couple could be accepted and baptized as long as "he" went back to living as a "she". Now that would be impossible if she was surgically changed to become a man.
Watchtower would never recognize a marriage of the same sex. In order to be baptized, they would have to divorce and the transgender would probably be told he has to be celibate until the New system where Big J will restore him back to his original sex.
Lots of people are told they must WAIT for the New System to be happy.

July 4 th Independence Day... Do You Know Any Witnesses That Celebrated?
by minimus ini knew of a ministerial servant that was called out because he used fire crackers on the 4 th of july.
we had to have an emergency meeting as to his qualifications.
i remember imploring the body to not make a big issue over this and it was decided to just “counsel” him about being involved in a patriotic holiday.🤨.
