Welcome Twisty, I hope this board helps you as much as it has my hubby and me. It's only been a month for us and already we have learned so much! Having a safe place to voice our thoughts and concerns is priceless.

Funny experience! I like that you were nice to them when they called at your door. One time 2 nervous looking Mormans came to my door. I smiled and said something like : As one of JW's I appreciate the sincerity, effort, and courage it takes to do this kind of work. How is your day going so far? They started to relax and thanked me over and over for being nice. They went on to say that most everyone had been polite UNTIL they called on my JW neighbor who was so mean they were actually shaken up. I appoligized for his terrible behavior. You would think JW's would have more empathy. Glad you bought those guys a beer... it shows class!

I went to the Holiday Inn memorial this year. I have faded, so rather than go to the KH where my cards are, knowing I was sure to be grilled, I picked the the Hotel venue. I figured it would be much easier to slip in and out without incident in a sea of 700 people. I not only wasn't pestered I wasn't even greeted. I got there in plenty of time. Walked past scores of people, found my seat and looked all around the room. This was not shunning. I didn't know a soul there. I simply was totally ignored. I didn't have a new song book. The people surrounding me noticed but never offered a book to borrow or share. I felt their eyes on me as I just stood there and listened to them sing like squalling cats. At the concluding song, I asked the sister next to me if I could look along w/ her. She nodded. When it was over she never spoke a word to me and neither did ANYONE else even tho I lingered a while just to see if I was imagining things. Nope, not one iota of Christian warmth or love. Strangely, I felt good when I left, as though I'd been shown that there is no more need to ever go back. That night the "friends" did me the biggest favor of my life.

RIP - The last good JW I knew
by metaspy ini just received an email.. the last jw that i absolutely loved died yesterday.. he was funny, loving, kind, smart and quirky.. when he was the tms overseer, if you did a substitute talk he would say "i'm going to put a 'g' under point number 99: suave, sophisticated and debonair" (that was back when we got graded).. and, he was very intelligent - we played trivial pursuit (his favorite game) - he got all the pieces, except sports, on his first turn.
he never watched sports so he never knew the answers.. rest in peace - i hope that god allows you into heaven even though you were part of an evil cult.

He sounds like a very special person. I hope the good memories of him will comfort you at this difficult time. All the best to you and his friends and family.

"Feeling sorry for yourself" about being hit by your husband is not Christian 2/15/12 WT Page 25 P 12
by yourmomma inhave anyone of you read, the absolutly jaw dropping paragraph in this article about a women who was hit by her husband?
its in page 25 of the 2/15/12 wt study edition (i read the dumbed down version).. .
if there was any question, that the watchtowers stance is for wives to simply take it when their husbands abuse them, this makes it crystal clear.. who the hell is scanning these things before they go to print?

Hi... haven't been on the forum for a while... an update on me...and my daughter, Ali
by coffee_black inwell, it's been a while... haven't been on the forum much lately.
with ali's last health scare, it has been a little overwhelming to keep up with everything.... ali continues to improve, in fact, her heart has improved so much that her cardiologist wants to document her case and publish it.
he has never seen someone improve so quickly.

I can't bring myself to say the phrase "the Truth" anymore....
by stillstuckcruz ini used to be able to say the term "the truth" with no issue.
that was whether i was speaking to jw's or not.
now all i can say is the "witnesses"(catching myself before saying 'witlesses').

Congregation Coordinator Disfellowshipped
by headisspinning inmy sister just told me that the congregation coordinator from my last hall was recently disfellowshipped.
his wife passed away within the past year.. all i know is that the first announcement was that he was no longer an elder.. and then a while later that he had been disfellowshipped.. he was quite prominent in the city where i live and he has been specifically named on this website at least once - if not twice.
specifically, there was at least one post by 'dogpatch' where his name was mentioned.. just thought i would share..

To Green Hornet: The WT$ is always changing the lingo to help determine if a person is still associating. I grew up with the slogan "Jehovah's chariot is always on the move. If you don't keep up you will be left behind."
