If You Have Had the CO or DO Stay With You...

for those of you who have had the co/do stay with you for the week:.

how was the experience?.

how did they spend their free time?

In the late 70's we had the CO stay with us for the week. When they first arrived and before they were even shown their room he said "There is a program on TV that I would like to watch on Sun.evening." I had to know what show was SO important to him. Guess what it was? The Miss Universe Beauty Pagent!!! I must have looked dumfounded, so his wife explained that it was being telecast from Hong Kong. They were both origionally from there so that accounted for some of the interest.

We actually had a very nice time with them that week. His wife was darling-always happy and helpful in the kitchen at dinner. He was quiet and mostly stayed in their room UNTILL.... Sun morn. The weather had turned suddenly cold in the night and it started to snow which was unusual for our area. There was talk that the meeting would be cancelled as the parking lot of the KH and most streets had not been plowed and it was still snowing cats and dogs. Since there was not likely going to be a meeting I stayed in my bathrobe and made blueberry muffins. The phone started ringing off the hook from the friends calling to ask if the meeting was cancelled or not. I happened to hear him say that the meeting was cancelled at the KH but there was going to be a WT study at MY HOUSE in 30 mins.!!! He NEVER BOTHERED TO ASK MY HUSBAND OR ME! Within 10 min. people started showing up while hubby and I scrambled to get ready. In all 57 people with muddy shoes arrived.

That night we all watched the Beauty pagent and had beer and popcorn. We commented on all the various contestants. When his favorite didn't get into the finalists he went to bed in a huff. His lovely wife and I watched till the end and had some great female bonding. They were unique people to say the least! This was the only time we hosted.

When You See A Witness What's Your First Reaction?

i saw a few mindlessly working a neighborhood as i was driving the other day.

they looked so unhappy, just walking in baby steps, looking like zombies..

Yesterday I ran into a group of Dubs at the the mall. They are from a hall I went to over 10 years ago and obviously didn't know I've faded. They were very warm and friendly. They were still in their FS clothes even tho it was late afternoon. It was clear to me they are pioneering. They looked tired and there was a wistful look on their faces. Like you, I felt incredibly sorry for these battle-worn sheeple

Like a Rolling Stone Lay, Lady LayLove ,old Dylan. Saw him in person in the late 80's at Sacramento. It was an out door venue and all I can say is he phoned in his performance. Disappointing

FS, I call him ASS without the mister. You shouldda heard what I called him yesterday!!! (I ran outta my hormones) I must admit Ass's church sounds great. Church isn't FOR God .It's obviously for PEOPLE who get a feeling of security in a scary world. The 70's TV star, Flip Wilson did skits on his show as a Preacher of "THE CHURCH OF WHAT's HAPPENING NOW". At the time I thought they were hilarious. NOW, I'd like to join that church!!

Recent C.O. visit: Bad news re: U.S. English meeting attendance

visiting a nearby town during his thursday night service talk mentioned how poor meeting attendance is in the english-speaking u.s. congregations.

he said that when the gb reduced the weekly meetings from 3 to 2, there was a brief surge in meeting attendance percentages.

after a few months it began to slide and it hasn't stopped sliding.

i found out the other day that my daughter began to question the existance of god, decided that the issue of universal soveriegnty is nonsense and that praying is useless....at 10!.

so glad i didnt know!

because back then i was still an apologist and would have been bothered that she was leaning away from the jw teachings.

Ossie. Nrver say never. Even if your son gets baptized. My daughter was baptized at 19 and was a true believer. She was living on her own at the time. . After less than 3 yrs in the Borg she could see the hypocracy. She then reasearched on her own and faded. She didn't tell me for a long time because she didn't want to hurt me. She didn't know I had stopped attending myself! So what I'm trying to say is young ones go through many changes. Never discount the influence you have with your son and possibly soon your daughter will have. I saw this with my kids.
