Goodbye, everyone.
by Chemical Emotions insome of you were really nice.
some of you were really mean to me, and at this point in my life i can't handle such meanness.
i thought this would be my one place to truly express my feelings without too much mocking or insults from people who i thought were nicer, but i was wrong.

Dear CE, It's a shame you felt hurt by some of the comments about your situation with your BF. I hope I wasn't one who offended you. Many, if not all of us were honestly trying to spare you from learning some of lifes lessons we have learned the HARD way.
I am a born in JW who fell in love and married when I was 17 and he was 21. I overlooked some warning signs such as lying and some others. I regret not listening to my inner voice that had some doubts about him. At one point I even tried to break up with him but he cried so hard and made me feel so guilty I let him manipulate me out of it. It turns out he was living a double life and i didn't find out until many years later. By that time there were children and the break-up was very much more devistating than if I would have trusted my own better judgement in the first place.
You are bright enough to come here and seek the opinions of others. You wisely decided to seek professional counciling. Keep thinking about what we said and be alert to warning signs. Realize real love is not somthing you are in it's something you do. That goes for your partner too. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to be loved for who you are. Best of luck to you.

You may be a jw if.....
by just Ron inyou may be a jw ........if you spent last saturday traped in a car with at least 4 other people you may be a jw.. if you have sat through a sheparding call where you were told you are unworthy you may be a jw.. if you have alienated your worldly relatives with your preaching you may be a jw.. if you have ticked some one of buy knocking on their door on one of their religous holidays you may be a jw.. if you think the governing body is goods direct channel you may be a jw.. if you have no clue when this system is going to end you may be a jw.. .

If you racked up a boatload of debt in the early 70's and laughed because you knew you'd NEVER have to pay it back.

If You Could See ANY Musical Group or Singer Of ANY Generation Who Would It Be?
by minimus ini never saw the king, live, in concert.
if i could've i would have wanted to see elvis.
i rarely listen to him but it would been great to see him in his prime.. and i would've loved it if i could have seen the 60's versions of the temptations!.

Without a doubt it would be the Beatles mid 60's Doors late 60's Stones almost anytime. I saw Elvis at lake Tahoe in the mid 70's. He was overweight and a characature of his former self. Still we had a blast as it was a girls night out. Saw Dillon the sound was bad at the venue . Saw Tom Petty in 82. He was AWSOME! Saw Blondie at the same concert. She was great.
Hubby just said he'd love to go to a Jimmy Buffet concert and wear a chicken hat. Haha I think I'd like that too

Pre-emptive shunning - a growing reality
by cedars ini'm scanning through some of the results from the 2012 jw survey as they're coming in.. the most populous of the six voting categories with 76 voters so far is my own category, for those who are inactive, or "faded/fading" (not disfellowshipped or da'd, but no longer reporting time on the ministry).. one statistic already leaping out at me surrounds the question "do you experience 'pre-emptive shunning' from active witnesses, who view you as 'bad association'?
" of the 74 who voted on this so far, 76% have answered "yes" to this question.. it's early days, and obviously i will have a clearer picture of the extent of the problem once the survey closes at the end of the year.
however, the results already in suggest that pre-emptive shunning is widespread among inactive ones, despite this not being an "official" policy of the society.. i was interested in your opinions as to why this may be?

00Dad, I agree 100% I know all too well the grief and sadness shunning causes and have the utmost sympathy for any and all who have/are experiencing it ESPECIALLY from the ones they love MOST- family. I didn't mean to sound callous. I only meant that when under the mind control of a cult it unfortunately often takes something SHOCKING and PERSONAL to wake up out of the fog.
