Also, of interest, is the assertion that the practice has no basis in scripture but is something the dredded Catholics cooked up. Whoda thunk the WTBT$ would so eagerly embrace a Catholic practice. Soso Confused wonders if the dubs were saddened by the new policy in the late 40's. Answer: Depends... Just as it does now. Kind people found it a horrible "test" of loyality. However, those like my parents (self-rightious and fully indoctrinated Zombies) seemed perfectly happy it was instituted. Chances are that the milkman, pizza guy, next door neighbor, etc. are not representing themselves as God's Ministers. There is a certain amout of trust placed in those that come in the name of God. This extra trust could be dangerous in the case of a pedophile.

always apostasy?

i get the impression that many here were df'd or da'd due to apostasy.

Narciss, Welcome! Hubby and I missed meetings at first due to health reasons. He had recently resigned as elder so that he would have more time to devote to his new stepchildren. The other elders disliked him for his negitive stand on the 3 pedophiles in our hall. We were true believers who were treated badly every time we attended the KH. When we asked for literature and phone tie in we were denied. It took years away from meetings before we had the courage to investigate TTATT. We were able to fade without much trouble.

Yup, I'm about the same age. I threw away college oppertunities in favor of coasting through my senior year of high school and marrying at age 17. The only difference between us is that my only child left the WTBT$ and has no children. The horrible cycle is broken on one side of my family because the others gave up having children as the "END" was sooooo close. Those family members are either dead or alone in the rest home.

oooooooohhhhhh donating blood is a good one. I still have to be careful about being seen since we are faders who must stay that way for awhile longer. I hate that we live in an area where everyone knows everyone (or is married to their cousin).
