You know the Isrealites who sacrificed their babies to Moleck HAD to be the most sincere people born. As God's chosen people they were in the Truth so to speak. Where did the individual Isrealite's loyalty belong? To the Truth? the King (organization)? or Jehovah? When I was asked that I was speechless.

by garyneal inthat is the conclusion you must accept if you are a jehovah's witness as my wife tries to explain to me that even if what they are teaching today contradicts what they were previously teaching, they had the truth then and they have the truth now.
the difference is, they (the witnesses and the governing body) simply believed that what they were teaching at the time was the truth but when they discovered new information they adjusted their thinking.
so since they formerly believed it to be the truth, they were in the truth.. an example she gave involved people who once believed the earth was flat.

Present truth is the Truth. Past contradicting truth is also the Truth. Sorry. those statements are mutually exclusive. What if your wife decided to stick with an old truth instead of the new version? Before 1952 JW's were allowed to celebrate birthdays and it was the Truth. Have her try it now and see what happens. I've decided this religion is steeped in Schizophrenia.

Gustav, It may be hard to believe, but it is possible to meet up with friends for dinner without having to wear a sweaty wrinkled dry clean only suit/dress due to the fact that you have been sitting for hours listening/tuning out a soon to be outdated hopelessly boring program.

A question for my friends in the USA about cowboys.
by punkofnice inas a kid growing up in the uk we used to play 'cowboys and indians' and watch high chaparal and bonanza along with other cowboy films.
later, in the 70's kung fu would be shown with caine going through the 'old west'.
we even had a chocolate bar that was marketed with a 'cowboy' theme...milky bar.. as far as i know the 'wild west' as shown on tvdidn't actually exist.. are there people that believe it did?.

Gregor, The pic you posted looks very much like my family photos. Real cowboys wear wide brim hats that don't curl up much . They need as much shade as possible. The clothes are rugged and a little little loose so they breathe and don't chafe. At the end of the day they get sweaty and dirty and smell like their horse.

About a week ago my adult daughter called me crying. It seems her beloved expensive cat had jumped out of her second story window and disappeared. "Oh dear!" I exclaimed, "Hows **** (her dear sweet roomate) taking it?" "He's taking it even harder than I am. When he told his (born again) parents they promised they would PRAY for his safe return" (Background on daughter) She is college educated, holds down a lucrative job, and saw through the JW nonsence right away.) Fighting back the overwhelming urge to ask, "Are you s#!ting me?" I chucked and said "Do you think the almighty will turn his attention from the starving and abused children in the world to look for your kitty?" "Oh Mom they are just putting it out there in the universe. It couldn't hurt." Well, she had me there, so we hung up. Today she called to say that the cat showed up at her doorstep a little worse for the wear but ok. So there you have it friends. Proof that Jeehoovah returns kitties if only you ask with faith.

When did you start getting ANGRY?

I realize the question you actually asked was WHEN? It was a long process during the years between 2004 -2011. The last straw was when we read about the Menlo Park Scandal (hubby used to attend there) and followed the money.

Angry? Not a strong enough word. Furious is more like it. I have felt a lot like DOC. I have a circle of anger that starts with myself for taking the path of least resistance as an adult by blindly accepting WBT$ as Gods chosen ones. Then, I blame my parents for forcefully teaching me that their love depends solely on my being an active JW. Then, I shift to J F Rutherfraud who sold them the lies and Knoor/Franz who polished the turds. But THEY were born to Russelites. So I rinse and repeat the cycle of anger.
