  My Day's Long and Arduous Journey

  this, my day's long and arduous journey, is winding down as infinite night gracefully descends and takes me into her welcomed embrace.. i have no reason to fear the inevitable, my transition into a higher and more glorious estate than was allowed me upon this beautiful but angst-filled habitation.. what must be borne with calm, with dignity, with rejoicing, has been prepared for me from earliest times.

  its accomplishment requires nothing of me .

  Terry, I like the way you put it, "They can't stop fiddling with the knobs." While at times it seems their changes are reactionary, such as the generation teaching. When too much time elapsed they pretty much had no choice.  However, I believe other changes better known to the Dubs as Nuuu Lite, are made to keep the flock interested and create anticipation for conventions, special talks, and new publications. Can you imagine the boredom associated with this religion WITHOUT something new to learn or talk about? The more convoluted and confusing the change the better. The sheeple then think the FDS are gifted with unusual and unexplainable insight.

  i am including this post to the site because it reveals something about just how crazy we have been at coming up with strange doctrines.

  some would just chalk it up to the insanity of fred franz.. by 1951, the watchtower started doing some math: 33+37=70 so 1914+37=1951.

  today is my first post on jwd, i was one of jehovahs witness for almost 50 years of my life, i was born into the religion.

  i was baptized at a young age and once i got married i was a very spiritual woman as they would call me.

  my husband and i served as full time pioneers, we traveled abroad and went to international conventions, did some special pioneer service in other states in the us.

  S at the W and 7Starz, WELCOME! Your story has some things in common with ours. Balaamsass and I are both only children, 3rdgen JWs who woke up in our late 50's. We both came from families who had members in high positions. He is a former pioneer, Bethelite, need greater, and Elder. I had been a pioneer at one time too. Ours is the 2ond marriage for both of us and we were fully indoctrinated when we married. The issue of how child molestation is/was handled by Watchtower particularly in a case he had first hand knowledge about was his big wake up call. Sorry to say it took even more info for my eyes to open but am I glad they did! Can't wait to hear more from you. both.

  Ah yes, I remember it well. As a child born in the early 50's to JW parents and grandparents these ideas were taught to me as absolute fact. The effect on a kid is large. You are desensitized toward death in general and especially toward unbelievers. Add to that, the not-so-subtle assurance that if you are not a "strong" enough Witness someone will be picking up YOUR bones. I spent nearly 60 years worrying that I didn't do enough to save myself and my children- a .terrible way to live.                                    edited to add: It also teaches the flock to judge others WITHIN the cong. as worthy of death if they are weak. Nice huh?

  Congregation that have sent in money!

  in the past week, i have heard from a number of friends scattered all over the place.

  a number of them are very upset over the congregation being required, to send in all monies over $4,000.

  a number of these were kh's that were saving to buy land, and or build new kh's.

  Some thoughts about the possibility of your friend suing the WTBT$ for the return of the money. #1: He will be DFed for "taking his brothers to court". Review the Menlo Park case. The most surprising aspect of that case is that the elders who were DFed for suing the society didn't "wake up" because of it. They are still very much mentally in. #2 Even if somehow he avoids being DFed he will loose the case unless he has a document stating the specific intended use for the money and it is signed by both parties. It would be a SHAME if he sued, lost, got Dfed and didn't learn TTATT!

  Simon, I can see your point. The JW's who are confused and disillusioned need answers and support on their journey out of Watchtower, This site was my lifeline and I will always be grateful for the help I received. In my case it was the humor that especially helped me to laugh at the organization and myself for believing such silliness. I think there is a difference between anger and hate and sometimes it's probably a tough call. Nobody can please ALL of the people ALL of the time. In addition, all of us make mistakes as well. (except me) I once thought I made a mistake but I was wrong.
