Have JW relatives disinherited you? (especially Canadian)
by berrygerry ininteresting court case whereby the entire will was declared void because the father was racist.. would that not also apply to jw's who disinherit their non-jw family?.

Under the radar, I'm all for preserving freedom including the right to include or exclude people and organizations in one's will. However, the pertinent issue is :
Is the WTBT$ exerting strong encouragement for the members to leave some or all of their estates to them?
Are they encouraging "alienation of affection" of family members by their policies on shunning and labeling those who left or never were JWs?
Do they hound the elderly who often are no longer "sound of mind" for large donations which in turn depletes the estate? "
My daughter and I lost a family fortune (about 10mil) because Mom gave it all to the WTBT$ while still alive. I have an Great Aunt who left a 1mill+a year oil well to WTBT$ and nothing to her children. Hubby has a childless aunt who has willed her entire estate of over 1mil to the WTBT$. That's just our family!

To Blue Dot or Not to Blue Dot. That is the question ....
by Oubliette inso i've been noticing recently that some khs in the area where i live (socal) are putting up the jw.org little blue dot, but others are not.
i would think this would be a mandatory directive from hq.
does anyone here have any intel on the matter?.

"The cost of purchasing and installing signs featuring the logo should be met from local congregation funds."
IOW Don't expect the WTBT$ to contribute a nickel for this swanky new branding.

exJW Psychology 103--Let's Reconsider "Confidentiality"
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inover the course of decades as a jw, an elder, a bethelite, then learning ttatt and wanting to leave, i'd collected a lot of insight into the power of "confidentiality.
" although the confidentiality in a judicial hearing is supposedly to protect the sinner, in actuality, i saw that it was about control and was protecting the power of the jc.. i didn't use any of this knowledge until i was called before the boe because the other elders figured they had grounds to remove me as an elder.
it was a work situation that only lasted a matter of hours, but it was enough that they seized the moment.

Billy, thanks for referring to this thread on another one. I had missed it. Hubby and I agree that the confidentiality mandate is designed for the protection of the elders. Why else would they refuse to let the accused record JCs? They scatter like cockroaches when you shine a light on them.

Welcome Garrett,
Since you are suffering from depression your first priority needs to be your health. Have you seen a doctor to rule out any physical problems that may be contributing to your depression? Medication may be in order as well- at least temporarily. I suffer from SAD (seasonal affective disorder) which makes the short dark days of winter miserable. Read about the disorder and see if that my be a factor for you.
Meetings and other JW activity makes depression worse. Stay away from that toxic environment!
Finally, please, please don't make important decisions while in a depressed state. Rather than send a letter of resignation which can not be undone, take this time to learn and heal. Be sure to read the books Londo suggested.
All the best to you

How do Americans feel about Canadians and Britons interjecting their opinions onto hot localized political topics: gun laws, abortion, ect?
by adjusted knowledge inin addition to the above question, why do citizens of the two above mentioned countries, or other countries, feel the necessity to tell americans how they should interpret the american constitution for localized issues?.
i fairly much have an idea what the general population in the usa feels in regards to the first question.
this could be one of the possible reasons cnn piers morgan poor ratings and eventual firing.

One April when my kids were young I signed up to aux pio. The quota then was 60 hours. Half way through the month we had a LOT of rain and I needed at least 40 more hours. By this time I regretted signing up but felt I had to honor my commitment sooo....... I rented dozens of videos of Bible characters, Samson, Daniel, David etc, and made my kids watch them with me. Yes, I knew I was only supposed to count 4 hours with them but I reasoned that I had a greater chance of making disciples out of them than anyone else! Regrettably, I was right.
