Hubby and I are so impressed with this interview! He is sharing it with several JWs who are "sitting on the
fence". -

Is Geoffrey W. Jackson a "ringer"? Was he sent coached how to testify? Is this a setup? I think so.
by Wasanelder Once inif you have heard g. jackson speak you can tell that he is smooth.
he is a good speaker with a commanding voice.
i think the gb knew this was going to happen and prepped him to testify.

Just noticed my typo. It's kinda funny. "he knew what he was singing up for" should read : he knew what he was signing up for". How do I know ? Maybe JC sounded like Mideastern Elvis? -

ROYAL COMMISSION: ARE JWS TAUGHT TO REFRAIN FROM SWEARING ON THE BIBLE OR NOT? JW.ORG PLEASE EXPLAIN!
by steve2 induring yesterday's rc proceedings (wednesday 5th august 2015), one of the victim's lawyers questioned mr vincent toole, the jw organization's legal counsel for the australian branch office.
she asked him why at least two of the jw elders who gave evidence last week refused to swear on the bible.
mr toole appear puzzled by her question and said he did not know.

Undercover, you are so right about so much of the religion is handed down orally. For a silly but true example: My parents believed all Jws must own at least one 4 door car to be used for FS. Those that didn't were considered selfish and "weak". Yet, that "rule" was nowhere in print. (that I know of). There are many many more.

OC, Thanks, I didn't forget Jesus. The reason I didn't include him in my list of those who God forgot was that a believer would argue that Jesus knew what he was singing up for when he accepted the Messiah gig. It was in the job description. I think he got the memo at baptism. Whereas, the others were pretty much blindsided. -

Compared to the potential risks of Jackson testifying a $1,000 fine is miniscule. Especially since the money wouldn't come out of HIS pocket. -

If I were GJ and I actually believed I was a spokesperson for God and that he could give me the divine words to speak when defending my faith, I STILL wouldn't testify. Why?
Jehovah is a god of unpredictability. Sometimes he shoes up. Sometimes he's off doin' other God stuff. Remember the fates of Isiah, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Stephen and some Christians who the lions thought were delicious? Geoffery, do ya feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?

The original was great but with your words it's perfect.

I have never heard of an official policy that would prevent a JW from taking an oath to tell the truth and swear on the Bible.
Maybe the elderz who wouldn't swear on the Bible knew they might not tell the truth. (Theocratic warfare.)

Defender of truth, both hubby and my e-mail addresses are our real names so can't be sent anonymously. Otherwise we would have sent the pdf already. Hopefully, either someone else has sent it or the reporter or her staff saw it.
Hopefully, since it appears the the RC has done a lot of research already, they may be aware of the JWfacts site. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
