REACTION from my neck of the woods...

as some of you may know i am in the midst of a fade, working on the family coming along (new thread to update there).

most mf my close friends are still jw's to varying degrees.

i would say most are couples that are around our age (25-35), and they attend maybe 90% of the meetings, go in service on sat, pioneer in april, and have a couple bible studies etc... in general the good kind.

A local dub called me today bursting with news--

The Stanley Theater had brothers from 99 countries.

1800 Locations around the world

8 meetings per KH per day

"The logistics were amazing!"

"This summer's weather was perfect for printing bibles-- Of course, Jehovah was blessing the work!"

The RNWT has "13% less content, although, it is a correct tanslation for modern usage."

"So many sisters burst into tears of joy as they received their new bibles!"

Dub: "This was an historic event!"

Me: "Why do you say that?"

Dub: "Because it was the first Annual Meeting where they did the Watchtower, so we didn't have to go to another meeting."

She didn't go to her assigned meeting (no surprise there), so the attendant says, "You're not assigned here are you?"

Dub: "I am a servant of the true god Jehovah; LEAVE ME ALONE!", as she walked away! Gotta love her!

for people who have a paralyzing fear of dying, to where it seems like it's this horrible, stalking monster, jwism is a powerful sedative.. but really, the idea of living forever, in human form, is nonsense.

living forever isn't about living forever, it's about not dying.. death is natural.

it can be painful, sudden, or both.

You are right Fresh Prince, coming to grips with our mortality is part of our recovery from being a JW. It didn't hit me until this spring, as the anniversary of my former DIL's death approached. You see I hadn't really grieved her loss as a JW. I believed she would live again, and we weren't supposed to grieve too much, showing a lack of faith in the ressurection. I truly grieved her loss this spring. She celebrated spring--It was her favorite season. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I will never see that precious young woman again. She didn't deserve to die so young. Accepting her death led to my accepting my mortality. It makes me want to live life to the full, just like she did, knowing her time was short. I will always celebrate spring. RIP G

got caught at the supermarket (in between the martini olives and snack crackers ) with several bottles of hard liquor in my basket along with some red licorice by a sister that has known me for years.

still respects me, not knowing that i am in full fade mode, or at least not recognizably knowing.

anyway, when she sees me, her eyes get all big and she heads in my direction, nearly ramming my liquor laden cart with her vegan oriented basket.. "hey sop, how are you doing?

A JW "sister" told me that she has already made plans with her UBM to go sailing in the Chesapeake. She told all her usual freeloaders (my term) that they will need to get their own rides. Her words, "I'm not going to feel guilty; it's just a meeting."

I have high hopes for my one remaining JW friend.

What Are Some Stupid Rules In Watchtower World?

one that i just don't understand is that no one should hold hands during a prayer.. where the hell do they come up with these rules??

Don't buy raffle ticket for charity-- it's gambling.

No breast feeding in the main auditorium in New England, even if modestly and fully covered with a blanket-- you will be called into the back room for unnecessarily exciting the microphone handlers. BTW you"re good to go in FL. This was in the mid-1980's, rules and restrictions may vary.

Duped by my dub mother

i'm not sure what wenr into my mother deciding to send me this email.

i am just sick, and sick and sick of her treating my children and me like we don't matter.

she sent this message, and when i replied she told me it was a joke and then rejected my invitation to lunch, since they'd already made plans with their friends who are moving to the different congregation.

Re-arranging the MS/elder population was/is the norm in my ex-congo. Always sending in a new P.O., COBE, TMS Overseer, Elder, MS, pioneer couple, etc. It was a small backwoods congregation with one slightly wacky "annointed", now deceased. Attendance low, hours below the national average, obviously little effort in "studying for the meetings" and commenting, pioneer couples sleeping with each others "marriage mates" (hate that term, sorry) and getting DF'd, "apostacy", and faders abounding. They sold the hall off and now meet a good hour away for the outliers in the territory.

Currently possibly one elder actually lives in the territory. My ex-congo is still more relaxed and less legalistic than the now "sister" congo, so the "increase" is from families migrating over from the stiff, New England congo. They even had to recalculate the congregation contributions toward the operating budget. Sending in the big guns hasn't changed the local dub population much. If anything, the heavies soften a bit over time or leave in frustration.

Just my observatios locally.

That happen to me when the numbers first showed, but once I re-opened the three PMs I had already read, the number 3 went away. The count has been correct since.

where we send and receive our pm's.. sometimes, my mouse acts "shaky" and i have caught it just in time so i do not accidently, logout.. just a thought.. maybe i am the only one with a shaky mouse at times.. loislane.

i actually never logout.

i don't remember all the passwords, etc, i made up, to enter.

Accidental log outs when checking mail on my cell phone are a frustration. It would be a great fix! Thanks for all of your hard work Simon!
