How about Pauls advise that "Women should not speak in the congreagation"I think this may be one of those instances where it was just an opinion expressed by Paul.

The Bible - God's Word or Man's
by truth_b_known inthat is the title of one of the watchtower's seemingly endless list of books that was pushed out for sale placement in the jehovah's witness' ministry.
the title does ask a great question.
those who would deny that the bible is divine in origin usually point to failed prophecy, events that do not mesh with historic evidence, scientific evidence, or even plagiarism from other religions.

A parent doesnt allow the kids to figure things out by themselves. Its dangerous for the kids too. And god allowed nearly 5600 Years for mankind to figure out that diseases are caused by germs ? And that the earth spins around the sun ?
I'm afraid all I can say is God must have different ideas on what parenting involves. His view on things has a longer range, so maybe this is a factor?
How about stoning a man to death because he picked up sticks on the Sabbath
How about owning slaves as well as beating them. These are all gods commands.
How about Jesus saying "Leave your family and come after me". "Hate your family and come after me"I never understood why stoning was used as a means of killing?
Did God not just tolerate man's desire to have slaves and provide rules to regulate it? in the same way he tolerated men wanting to have multiple wives.
I accept these things are very difficult to make sense of, especially from our limited perspective on things. I personally take hope from the fact that at least we recognise these things challenge our moral sense.
If there is an afterlife, some if not all of these things may be better understood in light of what God was in the process of accomplishing. Unfortunately, without an afterlife our desire for understanding and justice will never be satisfied.

PTB: are you defending the divine origin of the scriptures?
No matter how I look at it, I can't help but conclude, that the origin of the scriptures is related to the origin of the universe. If all that exists is the material world, existing uncaused as a brute fact, then the scriptures are a product of the universe in the same way mankind is a product of the universe.

If the universe has a cause, then a reasonable case can be made that this cause is something beyond the material universe, something immaterial, spaceless and timeless. If this turns out to be a mind, then everything including the scriptures must have some connection to this mind.

PTB If the creator knew that his credibility would rest on the record he set, in his claimed word and creation, he would make sure that his works would not contradict his word. imho. He would know, that the truth about the truth aka his word, would come out, sooner or later.
In my opinion, where it counts the most, his works harmonised with his word. God didn't just state that there is no greater love than the love shown when one person lays down their life on behalf of another, he lead by example.

Interestingly, even ancient bible writers noticed that in REALITY, life on this earth reflects a life with no Visible Evidence of a Benevolent, Eternal God.
You don't have to look far to see evil and suffering in the world. I don't pretend to be able to answer adequately the very difficult question of why God permits horrendous suffering to occur. Despite the suffering there is still beauty to be found, sometimes even as a consequence of the suffering.
“The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and deep concern. Beautiful people do not just happen,” Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.

PTB: If true what you say, but then The author would not encase these gems into a setting that totally discredits "The word of God"s claim to divine inspiration, verification. such as Gen 1:1, which gives the planet Earth an age of 13,8 billion years.
From my understanding of the account in Genesis, God wasn't overly concerned about giving us a science lesson. He set the stage for the conflict between the truth and the lie between righteousness and unrighteousness, love and hate. These are things we are still contending with on a daily basis.
As for the age of the earth I don't believe the bible claims he did it in seven literal days. We have an intelligible universe with minds capable of unraveling its mysteries.
“The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible, ”Albert Einstein

The thing is, all of our altruistic behaviours can be explained by evolution (pro social animal etc) and even our belief in God can (we tend to see agency in everything, as a protective measure)
The interesting thing here, is although a naturalist which entails determinism (no free will) Richard believes evolution has brought us to a point whereby we now have the power to choose to rebel against our selfish nature and move in a different more Christ like direction. He seems to believe cultivating and nurturing pure, disinterested altruism is beneficial to the survival of our species.
"We have the power to defy the selfish genes of our birth and, if necessary, the selfish memes of our indoctrination. We can even discuss ways of deliberately cultivating and nurturing pure, disinterested altruism-something that has no place in nature, something that has never existed before in the whole history of the world" Richard Dawkins The Selfish Gene.

There is nothing about the bible that indicates anything other than ignorant humans trying to explain what they could not otherwise explain.
Paul and Richard Dawkins have both tried to understand and explain the conflict between who we currently are and who we desire and strive to be. There are some interesting similarities between how they both articulate this problem and how the solution requires self sacrifice.
Jesus left the example to follow in placing your fellow human's interests before your own.
From Dawkin's the book The Selfish Gene,
“The point I am making now is that, even if we look on the dark side and assume that individual man is fundamentally selfish, our conscious foresight-our capacity to simulate the future in imagination- could save us from the worst selfish excesses of the blind replicators. We have at least the mental equipment to foster our long-term selfish interests rather than merely our short-term ones…We have the power to defy the selfish genes of our birth and, if necessary, the selfish memes of our indoctrination. We can even discuss ways of deliberately cultivating and nurturing pure, disinterested altruism-something that has no place in nature, something that has never existed before in the whole history of the world. We are built as gene machine and cultured as meme machines, but we have the power to turn against our creators. We, alone on earth, can rebel against the tyranny of the selfish replicators.”
Paul speaking in Romans 7:18-25
18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
There is also no proof for any god. Not a whiff. Nada.
There is evidence that the information contained in our DNA is responsible for creating us.
Where did this information come from? Richard Dawkins accepts that it is reasonable to postulate an intelligent source.
In his own words he said the following,
"Well it could come about in the following way. It could be that, eh, at some earlier time somewhere in the universe a civilization evolved by probably some kind of Darwinian means to a very, very, high level of technology and designed a form of life that they seeded onto perhaps this planet. Ehm, now, that is a possibility and an intriguing possibility and I suppose it’s possible that you might find evidence for that if you look at the um detail, details, of biochemistry, molecular biology, you might find a signature of some sort of designer."

If Bible was really the word of God, at least the following should be contained in the Bible:
Germ theory - Reason behind how germs, bacteria and pathogens attack or benefit other living things.
Astronomy - Should have mentioned the simple science of this solar system, planets, stars and galaxies.
Physiology of human body- How the human body (At least humans) works and is made up of.Granted, it would have been nice if the bible contained the above information. Maybe God knew we would figure much of these things out by ourselves. What we personally want to hear from God and what God believes we need to hear in order to prosper may be different.
What we are struggling to figure out is how to live peacefully with one another. The Bible speaks a lot about core values we need to embrace if we want the human race to survive long into the future.
Jesus gave an account of some of these values below. He indicates that investing in values such as righteousness, mercy, humility, peacefulness are good long term investments. They aren't just man made concepts which will disappear if we disappear, but will continue to exist eternally.
2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
5 “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons[a] of God.
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Jehovah GOD a failed GOD in many respects.
by smiddy3 inisn`t there enough evidence to acknowledge the god of the bible has been a failure ?according to wt / jw teachings ?.
a god that has supposed to have created the visible universe and everything in it ?.
some points where i would challenge that from an earthlings point of view using the bible if only in paraphrase.. doesn`t god create everything perfect ?

Gee-hober the Great Invisible Creator of The Universe has failed every time. Why even pray to such a looser with such a poor track record?
Well as long as God doesn't give up, despite his perceived failures, then he is still in with a chance of accomplishing what he set out to accomplish.
Herbert Kaufman said "Failure is only postponed success as long as courage 'coaches' ambition. The habit of persistence is the habit of victory."
God's victory is our victory.
