The is the whole thing Barry, being a professional or just trying to act like one. Plumbers in Sunday suits is what I call the elders. They think their professional when they carry a briefcase... lol

New Trend in Dramas?
by breakfast of champions inso it used to be that all dramas were ot.
period, that was it.. then they started incorporating a "modern day" application of the ot drama where actors in the present day reflected on the story.. then they started using some highly fictionalized nt characters in dramas (never jesus of course).
in the past few years we've been getting more "modern dramas", just about people in the present dealing with their "problems".

There is a huge difference between confession to a priest and to a JW elder. First of all a priest is educated in console, 6 years of college. A elder MAY have a GED and that is about all. Secondly, the Catholic church does not go after members to make them confess even if they did something that made it to front page news. It also is not considered a sin not to go to confession. The sacrament of Confession is strongly encourage because of it's benefits to the penitent. When I confess my sins, it is a very hard thing to do, I have to truly confront myself, but when I hear those words that I am forgiven I have such a feeling weight lifted off of me. Thirdly, Preists have to have ethics of complete confidentality. I know that ethic well as a psychotherapist. I could be sued if I leaked any info on my clients; a priest can no longer be a priest if he breaks this important vow. With a JW elder... well as anyone knows, the entire congragation will know all the details in less than a week.
However to me the biggest difference is the motives between the two. The priest is there to forgive your sins and help you achieve forgiveness from within yourself so you come out feeling stronger. The elder is more interested in "keep the congragation clean" than on helping someone with individual troubles.

Judicial Meeting
by Kool Jo inso here you are...sitting with a couple of elders at judicial meeting, and you're asked the following question:.
"do you still believe that the fds is the channel that jehovah is using"?.
now is it possible to answer 'no' without being df, or how would you answer that question?.

I would have to be very drunk and very stoned to even try to say "yes" to that question

Why do they keep doing this?
by TTATT in"even many who claim to be religious feel that they are at liberty to do what they think is right, without any obligation to obey god and his commandments.
(ps.
14:1) this attitude may pose a real threat to true christians.

Mum.
It is just not the Catholic Church, but just about any main stream religion supports family first before converting others. I have been Catholic for 10 plus years now. I'm not what I would call a "Good Catholic", I attend about 10 times a year, but I am ALWAYS greeted sincerely and treated like I attend every week. If something bothers me, Father is always there. The main difference between cults and mainstream religions is that religions are there for the people/families, with cults, the people/families are there to be used by the cult.

Can anyone explain this reasoning?
by Honesty inwhen a jw goes from door to door on a daily basis, they are called pioneers and it is a good thing.. it is an act of love when they share their knowledge with householders.. .
however, if that pioneer learns more about the watchtower society's beliefs when compared with the bible and tries to share that knowledge with current members he is attacking his brothers and sisters and is mentally diseased.. when he shares his knowledge about the watchtower society's involvement with the un and other political entities with the brothers and sisters it is called an act of hate.. in both instances, we have similar actions and motivations but the watchtower society comes to completely different conclusions.. does it have anything to do with control or is it related to something else?.

Calling anyone "mentally diseased" is hate speech and should be brought to the attention of the courts and treated as lible and slander.

I'm not a Prepper or a Morman, but I do like the Morman's Provident Living program. I go to one of their centers to buy in bulk. They are really nice... you buy and package individual amounts you need right there. They have vacume sealers, jars, everything. I buy beans, dried soups, sugar, flour, honey, noodles, nuts and seeds. There is also a lot of stuff for serious preppers like dried or jarred meat.
