i have seen debates and shizzle about god or not god etc etc.. i was even confronted by an aggressive and trheatening muslim in the street, who was angry that i wanted proof that god existed.
he ranted on a load of old b0110cks about 'hell' and stuff.
finally he yelled at me: 'do you want god to write your name in the sky?
Punk - I'm exactly the same, I'd love there to be more, for there to be a god ( even though my first question would be was it worth all the suffering of mankind to more or less settle an argument?)
when it's said like that its a little depressing, very sad but until I see some actual evidence then I'd need to agree with you.

I wouldn't if I were you, speaking to them about this will only lead to you being DF'd. I'm not 100% but I think they changed the organ donor doctrine in 1980.
when jw's come to my door, i don't tell them i am an ex, just because they will move on and you will not have helped them see the obvious.. so i show them this scripture, and the new wt of july 2013 makes it even easier to confirm that new light is just moving the goalposts.. if jehovah really exists, they are in for some heavy crapstorm from him!.

after watching the first 2 epsoides and looking foward to the rest i was thinking that a dome needs to be put over every kingdom hall on sunday morrning.
that way we could be rid of a large chunk of them and those who missed the meeting could see that its a false church.

I watched the first episode and thought the acting was shocking. Pity because it sounded like such a good series.
i was thinking about all the accounts in the bible that indicate god kills children as a punishment or teaching experience.
1. kills all of egypts firstborn sons, who were innocent kids who did nothing to him or his people, who had no control over the decisions pharoah made.
how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.
Tammy, I spent years praying and I can honestly say that I never once 'felt' anything. And I would have to say that I was an honest searcher.
I personally don't think it's unreasonable that if there is a Christ that he just reveals himself, in person. Not with the thread of suffering and death if we don't 'just believe'.
im sure in your life it means the world to you feeling as you do but for me, just going to Christ doesn't even begin to make sense.
So basically the long and short of it is, for you, you feel that the way you know if something is inspired or not is that you ask Jesus? And without sounding flippant, does he say 'hi Tammy, these are the ones to put your faith in but these books of the bible aren't worth your time' ?
again, I don't think it's unreasonable, considering the bible claims our lives are at stake and those of our children and families etc, to have some real evidence. Reveal himself. It's not showing a lack of faith, it's using the brain in our heads to reason hings out that make sense. In my view.
personally, i respect that everyone has choices to believe whatever they want to believe.
i have no interest in joining another religion....what about you?.
I'm interested in learning, furthering myself, spirituality of some sort, for me I don't think that lies with religion.

I kinda get what you are saying Tec but doesn't that mean that you think a particular book is inspired because it says so? As in, your explanation seems to me to suggest that because a writer says he was in spirit then that must be inspired? What if that was added by a lying scribe? What if another book doesn't say in was written in spirit but it was, etc?
im not nit picking, I think it's important to have answers to these questions. Looking to Christ in truth doesn't cut it for me, I may as well have stayed a jw if I didn't want real answers.

Yeah I saw that ADCMS, I was hoping she'd be more exacting than that. I was also wondering if she (or others) felt that within the same book written by the same bible writer if there were things within that they felt were inspired and parts that are not.
In other words, get straight to the point, which parts are inspired and which parts are not and how did you come to that conclusion. Does Jesus tell you or is it from some other source you get this knowledge?
