Best thing you can do is stop talking about invisible beings that may or may not exist. Good on her for using her mind to work things out :)

My 8 year old daughter tells me she is an atheist...???
by sosoconfused inso since we have not been to a meeting in 6 months or so, i decided to ask my daughter (on the way home from cheerleading practice - yeah i can't believe i am letting her engage in such a worldly activity lol) if she misses going to the kingdom hall.
she says sometimes because she can't see her friend - but she has made new friends so it doesn't bother her too much.
so i ask her, "well, what about learning about jehovah?

Food For Logical Thought...
by braincleaned insometimes we waste hours and hours debating a subject like the flood, and the impossible scientific and evolutionary consequences that it entails.
we go into great debates about how all of is is possible, what a "kind" means (species, obviously not)... etc.... but believers will not stop believing... so here is something even a child would think of more logically:if god is all powerful and love why would he have not just made the wicked drop dead, painlessly?
simply, humanly.

I often think exactly the same. Why didn't god (if the story were true) deal with the first problem of one of his angels going bad? Why allow the bad angel to cause thousands of years of damage so that at the end of it you could say 'see, I was right, I'm god'
ive never understood the whole idea of allowing suffering. Just to prove a point. I always remember the WT answer of how all the angels would have been watching and if god had just destroyed satan then it wouldn't have answered the question. Really? So, god then had to concern himself with the thoughts of all those perfect angels in case they thought satan had a point? Where does that stop?

Abbasgreta - I know a number of Anglicans and some are happy, some aren't but without fail all are self righteous (the ones I know) condemning of equal marriage rights ( homosexuals having equal rights digusts them even though it makes absolutely no difference to their lives) and have absolutely no reasoning when it it comes to discussing god or the bible. I also was on the receiving end of the local ministers hate (without him ever meeting me I may add) because I 'didn't know jesus'
and the reason there are thread here regarding god killing children is because the bible says he does, I'm not sure which part of that you don't get.
these, and many other reason are enough to put most people off religion for good.

Where Does Material Success Come From - The Devil or God?
by Iown Mylife inhow can you tell if your business successes are coming from satan or god?
because if your work gets real busy and you miss some meetings and/or fs, is that how you tell that it's from satan?
but then if you contribute a big amount every week, is it from jehovah?

Neither, they'd need to exist first.

Why does god kill children?
by Comatose ini was thinking about all the accounts in the bible that indicate god kills children as a punishment or teaching experience.
1. kills all of egypts firstborn sons, who were innocent kids who did nothing to him or his people, who had no control over the decisions pharoah made.
how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.

Tec - I guess since we don't hear Jesus talking to us then this is where we mostly see things differently. You are coming at this from the point of view that since you feel you hear Jesus then it's all real, most of us hear don't hear Jesus and we feel, based on the evidence available, that he doesn't exist. I've sent you a pm saying as much.
i would like to feel connected to something, some form of spirituality, but the longer I go on and read and learn the less I feel there's a chance that there is a god. I don't see why god would see to it that there's a book written that so full of holes and things that makes absolutely no sense and then expect mankind to know what on earth it all means. It should be pretty simple, I'm god and this is the facts. More or less.

One cute canadian sister
by thomyorke ini like her videos about self-injury and other mental and physical problems, that could happened to young people.... she say that she is an active jw and regularly visit the meetings and go to service.. http://www.youtube.com/user/idranktheseawater.
but... what can you say about her wearing and hair style?.
it's cool, but it's "non-spiritual" style, not for "true" jw, isn't it ?!

Is it common to,,,
by label licker inhave a local needs on apostasy, have everyone shun you, have no shepherding calls since you left for over a year, and now a jc tomorrow evening????????.
spoke to branch committee as well as co and they said to go and if we were treated unfairly then to call the co. don't get it.
the co would have known about the local needs talk on apostasy and says if we were treated unfairly to call him.

I understand Tec why you answer like that, I can remember being a jw and I would have said similar, I would have done so not realising that I was making excuses for what it actually says. It's hard to get around that god commanded Abraham to murder his son and he went on his way to do it. The question isn't anything to do with what Abraham might have thought inwardly, all that matters is what it says. Hebrews 11 shows that Abraham would have had faith in a resurrection, in order to be resurrected you'd need to be dead, and Abraham was willing to kill based on his faith whether we like it or not.

I've never watched the US The Office except for maybe 2 mins at most, I didn't like what I saw and it put me off. Alan Partridge and Saxondale are two comedies I loved. The bbc 6 parter 'The Trip' was outstanding as well.

Another excellent series is Wallander, both the Swedish and UK remake.
