One example. Organ transplants were forbidden, up until 1979 you'd have been DF'd for it and completely shunned by family and friends. 1980 it's ok, no shunning. People died because these men make up garbage like that. It may not be in your view lying but they are making statements saying almighty god will be disgusted with you for this, they then change it (in the full knowledge that many, many jw's died because they took a stand based on their authority, without scriptures I may add) without the hint of an apology and disguise it as new light.
they don't 'suggest' it, they say its absolutely the case that god thinks a certain way and they change that later all the while giving no good reason. Show me a scripture that says men can't have a beard and give an item at an assembly? What scripture says woman can't wear a trouser suit in the Kingdom Hall? Small things but absolute idiotic rules made up completely for no good reason.
whether we like it or not these men have for years made up various things and said its gods will with no real evidence to back it up. It's actually disgusting.

I used to always knock rather than ring, I still do when at friends or whatever. You're maybe being a wee bit hard on her, doing the jw door chopping isn't the easiest thing in the world to do.

Many people have been crushed by the wts under the guidance of the GB, some are angry and some of those who are angry may well at times write things in an angry way, that's life, that's what happens when people abuse power and crush people's lives.
Also, when I first learned that jw's were completely wrong I started looking at things on the Internet, in doing so I saw some videos from people who were saying things like 'brother so and so said this about me so I left and I hate them all now' - there's always people with chips on their shoulders.
I'd say on the whole that this site is a good place to get info and meet like minded people. Sure at times you'll see and read things and think that's just silly but you learn to ignore that, but don't let silly little things like that stop you from seeing value of this site and the people here, some who would bend over backwards to help you.
For many years I worked (free of charge of course) at the circuit and district convention in accounting, I can absolutely assure you the money was the number one priority, I've watched district overseers script their notes and laughing about guilting the bros/sis into giving more money. 'Brothers, have you any idea how much it costs to hire these halls, really? Do you really?' Well yes, I did, I also new how much it cost me, a self employed regular pioneer, to take time from my part time crap job to go to an assembly and not earn any money to feed my family and then feel guilty that I wasn't giving even more.
Of course there are many, many honest and good people in the jw, there's a number I miss dearly, but that will never excuse the crystal clear fact that the GB have just their power to tell the org the 'truth' from Jehovah, only to change that truth later when 'the truth' turned out to be an untruth. So yes, people are angry. People here also want to help others escape from that nightmare.
i hope you can see past the things you don't like and see the value of this site and also contribute to it to make it even better :)

That's why there was a split within the Anglican Church, because some were for (folk like you) and some were against. My wife is Anglican and has strong views on same sex marriage as does the vast majority of her Anglican Church (Sydney) and they completely disagree with it. I wish they were more like your church! In fact there's a massive issue in Australia at the moment regarding same sex marriage.
im also aware that you can't paint everyone with the same brush so it's good to know everyone isn't like that :)

there is no way i will read the wt one..so i still want to have a relationship with god but don't know how to choose a bible.
it is very hard to dewired yourself and ,sometimes i feel that i don't have a relationship with him.the what ifs come and go still.last night i was up all night reading and researching , can't shake off the shock still to know ttatt.

Yes agreed, ask all sorts of questions, learn about different things/possibilities.
Id have to slightly disagree with the view of being tolerant towards those intolerant towards god or the bible, there's absolutely nothing wrong with questioning long held beliefs in the supernatural, it's hardly being intolerant.

I missed a lot of TV over the last 30 years
by sosoconfused insince i have stopped attending meetings i have realized that there are alot of good t.v.
shows that i have missed as well as channels that i would not watch because they would no doubt be in opposition to the scriptures(har har).. .
i have been watching the history channel and the discovery channel so much over the last few months that it is amazing.

JWs and E-Cigs
by TheClarinetist inthe other night, two of my jw coworkers were sitting out enjoying an e-cig with one of my other coworkers.
i knew from earlier that there was tobacco (well, nicotine) in it.
out of curiousity, i did some minor digging with my worldlytm coworkers and am pretty darn sure that these guys aren't doing anything else questionable... are active jws allowed to smoke e-cigs now, or did i just witness some extremely minor teenage rebellion?.
