I'd be interested in having a PDF of it, anytime in the future when you have the time. I must confess I'd be lost talking with a jw about this at the moment but having it handy on the iPad or phone would be excellent.

It's the JW's fault that I no longer see evidence for god......apparently.
by punkofnice inif i had a quid for the amount of times i've been told that the reason i no longer see evidence for a god is because the watchtower(tm) damaged my trust in god.....................................i'd have at least a pony!*.
could there be any truth in this?.
have you been told similar for your choices in 'spirituality'?.

If that was me I'd need to disagree, my view of god came from the jw in the first place and I never did question whether they were correct or not. Now I am able to freely choose for myself I just dnt see the evidence. I would like to see evidence but I've yet to see it (or feel it)

Scholar, I agree that mistakes help us grow, the only difference is that mistakes from the wt aren't admitted and people's lives are affected by these arrogant mistakes.

Neil, you being cheeky back to Jeffro kinda takes away from your argument as well, it goes both ways. I'd be I tested in seeing the specific quotes from the many that support wt view.

Strangely I found this a very interesting discussion. I was never that clued up on it even when I was a jw but my first thought would be if you have a date in mind (1914) that you want to match this to, does that in itself not become a problem? If you are looking at history to fit what you want it to for rather than having a clear mind. And the absolute fact that Russell first came up with 1914 by measuring pyramids and that so happened to fit what the bible says and now 607 happens to fits wt's vision of 1874....sorry, 1914.
it is rather irritating that scholar refers to himself the way he does, I'd also say though that (I'll firstly say that I've really enjoyed your posts Jeffro) always calling scholar an idiot isn't the best, name calling begins to take away from what you are saying, just my view and you're welcome to ignore it.
im glad he's a jw and comes here.

when i try to click page 2 of active topics.... i get only posts that are all over 13 years old!!.
the question is.. how are we meant to follow posts, even our own, if there is no easy way to find them?.

Prayers that God answers. Any examples?
by punkofnice inwhen i believed in god i tried not to pray for anything selfish.. after a while i began to think that a lot of things i was asking my imaginary friend in the sky for were selfish for some reason.. i do not ever remember a single thing i prayed for ever being answered.
if there was the appearance of an answer it was because i did mental gymnastics to make it fit the delusion that god had actually answered me.
there was never an obvious message/answer from god.

None, not a single one from me.

Introduction and a note on several posts here
by LizO inhey people,.
as for myself, after extensive study i have concluded that it's not possible for me to trust the bible and so i am not active anymore.
however, let me please add something to the discussions here:.

Liz, the way conversation and/or debates work is by agreed to rules by all parties as it were, you'll not get far here by saying you are happy to debate as long it's by your rules.
take a deep breath and try enjoy the forum, it will help you. If you are unwilling to do that then I wish you well.
and you never responded to anything at all that I had said. I mentioned Ray was humble and admitted his faults and the things he did wrong, didn't you notice that while reading COC? The GB NEVER admit fault for misleading people and stating as fact from god things they've essentially made up.
