  Does faith excuse serious problems with the bible?

  i constantly read that having faith is the answer to knowing that god (or in most cases, jesus) exists.

  but to me it's quite clear there are serious difficulties in believing the bible.. adam and eve.

  Talking snake

  Global flood, every living creature in one vessel

  God commanding the execution of entire races

  Rape being ok

  Faithful men of old having sex with their own children.

  Can you just ignore these and many other serious problems with the bible?

  Proof of Noah's Flood - Presently watching a Documentary about Europe & the Ice Age

  first time i ever heard anyone say there was 'proof' of noah's flood.. very interesting,.

  showed a trawler, where the team dredges regularly in the north sea - for animal bones, massive land animal bones, mammoths.. he said, originally, the bones were sent for analysis, and the dr stated, they were proof of noah's flood.. the north sea area was a land mass of dry grazing lands.

  and it was very similar to africa.. many bones were found in london, of lions, hippos, etc ... when they were digging out the underground.. .

  The flood story makes absolutely no common sense. If there is a god and he wants us to believe and worship him, why tell wee stories that make no sense to the brain he apparently created?

  Heart bypass surgery & blood

  my father had an angioplasty this morning and was admitted immediately for coronary artery bypass surgery due to major blockages found.. how likely or necessary is a blood transfusion for this?.

  what's the latest policy on blood?.

  i realize there's likely a thread or two dedicated to the subject but i'm looking for the short answer from those in the know, at least on the latter.. i only found out this morning and am heading to the hospital now.

  What constitutes 'proof' on JWN?

  recently there have been a few threads where claims have been made alledging personal negative effects in 'real life' following internet activity on jwn and other ex-jw related sites.

  discussion then ensues, aspects of which may include 3rd parties either disputing the truth or affirming the likelihood of the claim.

  questions are asked.

  I agree with slimboyfat.

  And I agree with Simon, most times just using common sense is the answer. And sometimes we'll never know who is lying and who is telling the truth. You can generally tell a lot by someone's response, of just how argumentative they are or extremely pedantic.

  Prayers that God answers. Any examples?

  when i believed in god i tried not to pray for anything selfish.. after a while i began to think that a lot of things i was asking my imaginary friend in the sky for were selfish for some reason.. i do not ever remember a single thing i prayed for ever being answered.

  if there was the appearance of an answer it was because i did mental gymnastics to make it fit the delusion that god had actually answered me.

  there was never an obvious message/answer from god.

  Punk, I've come to the same conclusion, I don't see the problem if there is a god to just answer in an obvious way.

  i had a few hours to myself one day last week and I was sitting on this beautiful beach, it was empty except for me. I felt it was a perfect time for god to let me know if he exists but alas I heard nothing. Like you I can imagine folk saying I didn't have faith, what I do have is common sense and would like to think that if my mind was created by god then why would he want me to believe something that goes against the way that mind works?

  Rudds new asylum seeker policy

  to the aussies out there what do you think of the government policy to send asylum seekers to png and have them settle there if they are proven to be refugees and if not to be sent home or to a third country.

  i believe this policy will definately stop the boats.
