Thats what happens when you live in a Police State like the USA. You hire whomever you can to don that badge and uniform to keep the rosters as full as you can regardless of the consequences.

Could You Live Without God?
by serotonin_wraith ini have said before in past posts - i think a belief in a god is because of two bad reasons.. 1. ignorance (not always deliberate at all) of certain facts.
the universe and life on earth was not designed.. 2. wanting to believe in a god.. so, to focus on the second, i can see why people would want there to be a god.. you see dead loved ones again, you live forever, you have a purpose set out for you, you feel there's always a being with you through even your most difficult times.
for those who believe in a god, could you live without one?

Now that I do not talk to myself trying to connect to an invisible sky captain, life is much better. I now know that what happens to me,good or bad, and the decisions I make are mine and mine alone. I do not have, or need that crutch of the bible or god, to live. Therefore I can't shift blame or give praise to the invisible sky daddy when something goes wrong or right in my life.

Do you consider your time as a JW wasted time??
by karter inmany of us have devoted a lot of time and energy to the jw's at the expense of other things like education , planing for retirement , family time just to name a few.. i don't consider it all wasted time there was a lot of good i learnt however i'm doing things now as a jw i never would have.. i don't have the same time pressure and never fell guilty about taking a lot of time out for myself as one elder said to me"if we don't keep you brothers real busy in the work of the kingdom you get swallowed up by the world" .

It wasted my youth. I did not get an education when I was younger. Now I am in my 30's trying to play catch up and getting an education and starting a career this late is kind of hard. However that being said. I am not going to sit around and bitch and moan about it. That does nothing but waste even more precious time. The hell with it.

It was copper. The reason no one can find the ark is because the crack heads of noah's day hacked the ark up and sold it to the scrap yard on 172'nd street.

Fun and games at the KH
by chicken little inthe cong i grew up in during the 70s had an exceptional elder who was born for showbizz.
our service meeting parts were sooo fantastic they would not be believed by todays automatoms.
we had mini dramas to show how to use the truuth book, dressed up as scrooge from charles dickens novel and with "ghosts" of christmas past and present to represent old religion and new.

Wow. I wish we had meetings like that. The only thing I can remember is when my dad had a part on the service meeting and he had a few beers(read 8) @ supper before the meeting. We had a closet next to the stage that they used to simulate door to door presentations. He was the witness in this scenario and when he went to knock on the door he knocked police raid style. He pounded on the middle of the door and the damn thing literally splintered on the spot. But that pales in comparison to what you described.

Under the table job?
by berylblue ini really don't approve of working under the table, but i understand that, in some circumstances, it is necessary in order to avoid poverty.
my step son, who receives state insurance (long, long story) and has crohn's and who has just come to live with us, desperately wants a job in addition to going to school.
if he earns over $260 or some such, he will lose the insurance.

Damn shame that this is even an issue there in the 'greatest and richest' country in the world. but i digress. I have had a few under the table jobs in my life. They were all in construction. I know that some restaurants(sp) also hire under the table. My brother did that for a while. As far as being a good idea? That is up to your son. The way I see it is, that you have to do what you have to do and piss on everyone else that tries to stop you providing for the necessary. It would be different if your son wanted to work for some frivolous material possession but we are talking legitimate pressing health needs here.

What just placing watchtowers and awakes around did not rid the demons and satan from the premises It seems to work like a charm for the witnesses. On a serious note Derek hit it spot on.

~Beloved landmarks from your hometown~
by FlyingHighNow inwhen i was almost seven, we moved from the gulf coast town of mobile, alabama to morgan city, louisiana.
on brashear avenue, which was also highway 90, the gulf coast hwy, going towards the now old atchafalaya bridge, there was a shrimp boat in the middle of the road called the spirit of morgan city.
at christmas time they decorated it with a santa on the front and his reindeer out front, as if it were santa's mode of transportation through cajun country, rather than his regular sleigh.
