You are responsible for taking care of yourself if you’re able-bodied. Even the govt recognizes this, as they are now again, forcing able-bodied people to work part time in order to qualify for federal aid.

I don’t believe there is anything that states, in the US anyway, that an organization must provide shelters and other social programs to qualify for tax exemption. That would be overt discrimination as not all charitable organization provides the same type of services, nor are they all the same.

Well, you’re partially correct, dubby. They don’t have any social programs that help people in that regard.
They do not need them. Jws take care of themselves and each other. They only require the organization for their religious doctrine/training.
Why do you want them depending on the org for sustenance?

Now, to address why WT doesn’t go get govt money to offer social service is because (1) they don’t need it, and (2) they are not a social service organization or have any social services arms.
That’s like asking why doesn’t the Red Cross go get govt funding to open bloodless surgery hospitals.
That’s not what they do.
