Starry,
Counting buildings, empty parking spaces, or the amount of members you don’t personally observe preaching means nothing. At all. Not a bit.
i was commenting on another thread about how local kh attendance is down.
memorial attendance was also way down and the circuit assembly had hundreds less people than what is typical.
my jw family has even mentioned it.

Ok so now we are determining membership health based on counting parking spaces?
lol
”Hey that company going out of business soon”
”How do you know?”
”Less cars are in the parking lot compared to last year”.
”Yes, they are going out of business”
”Yep”.
ok so this is a topic i've pondered and go back and forth on.. i can easily see a point where lawsuits cause massive deficits in the organization.
honestly i feel like we are seeing the tip of the iceberg in regards to lawsuits on child abuse.
to me it looks like the property sell offs are to be able to get ready for this.
Jws are VERY conservative in counting their membership. They only count “active” members. They can count inactive ones and have probably around 18-20 million members on paper, and technically, they would not be lying as inactive members are still jws.
There is no reason to believe they are making up numbers in Germany.

Personally, I can get behind “decline” (really, depending on the location and the area of decline). A religion can’t grow, even at 1 percent, and simultaneously be in decline.

Well, “personal observations” can be inherently biased when trying to determine a fact.
Really, my local cong average 155 weekly meeting attendance. There are literally no seats at my local Regional ever year.
Doesn’t mean jws are experiencing massive growth. It just means my area has good attendance.
Yours may be different. Who knows?

Facts are not determined by popular belief.

Any citation/proof or are we suppose to just take their word for it?
Rick Fearon had “Johnny” call in and claim only 5 million attended the memorial, I believe, the very next day...

lol — whoever down-voted me is missing a very important point. 2015 was 3 years ago, when the “collapse” allegedly began. It’s damn near 2019, and there is no collapse.
I mean, it’s really not that hard to add 2 and 2, unless this will take another “20-30” years to completely fall, as some here have posited before.

Sanchy,
I have no desire to change your mind. Believe what you wish. Time will tell.

IFT,
I think the problem is people are interpreting their actions based on what they want to happen (collapse) and not in light how organizations operate. So one less dollar spent this year than last year, equals “collapse”. It’s literally how they see it.
So while our economy has rebounded, it certainly isn’t robust. Best to tighten your belts where you can instead of attempting to ride it out.
