EU Court Ruling Against WT on Data-Protection
by cofty intoday's london times reports on the july ruling of the eu court that forces the organisation country to comply with data protection.. the action originated in finland but the ruling will affect every eu country.
the cult tried unsuccessfully to argue that the notes taken by jws in the door-to-door work were personal and not accessed by the congregation.
the court ruled that they are acting under the auspices of the congregation and therefore they must comply with data-protection laws.. keeping lists of do-not-calls also falls under this ruling.. why does the cult always feel that it is above the law?.

Sanchy,
They not formally handed over to the elders. That’s what I meant (and what I said)
At any rate, I’ve never seen a law prevent people from sharing information of a private nature. They just don’t write it down.
Its more puntitive than preventive.

LongHairGal,
Long story short, I’m calling you a hypocrite who is selling irrational fear.
Youre refusing to admit also, that ex cons will do whatever they want regardless if they study with jws or not. You’re refusing to admit that even a college educated parole board get fooled by these guys all the time.
It has nothing to do with jws or a “not at home” list. Criminals will do whatever they want, period. No one will ultimately stop them.

As I said before, it is documented that ex cons reoffend regularly in the non-jw world, even after being cleared by a college educated, non jw parole board. So what do you say about that?

I agree that there is a greater chance of jws being victimized by other jws (as it’s happened plenty times before) than there is of the general public. That’s very true. In fact, child sex abuse, about 90 percent, is perpetuated by family members.
Its really not about opportunity as it is about familiarity and established trust.

LHG,
If it’s never happened yet, there is no reason to be concerned seeing how jws have been going into prisons for a long time. This is not some new phenomena that has to be vetted.
Yes, it is paranoia. Otherwise, no criminal should ever be released from prison because they can burglarized your home when you’re not there.
Irrationality has never shown much reason.

I am not disputing how it’s looked at legally — I am clarifying it’s use.
And of course, your prisoner point has NEVER HAPPENED so you’re spouting nonsense and pure, irrational paranoia
Besides, what’s stopping a criminal or ex con from doing what criminals have always done — break into homes without a “not at home” list?
What evidence do you have that ex cons have ever used a not at home to burglarize a home?

Is attendance down in your location too?
by StarryNight9 ini was commenting on another thread about how local kh attendance is down.
memorial attendance was also way down and the circuit assembly had hundreds less people than what is typical.
my jw family has even mentioned it.

You keep insisting I am “worked up” or “upset” (perhaps because that’s what you are trying to achieve). I’m simply pointing out the obvious, gaping holes.
But I guess there is no point in doing that anymore.

Personal House to House notes are not accessed by anyone other than the individual publisher. What I mean by “accessed” is that they are not handed over to the elders.
Really the only thing they all have access to is the don’t not calls. This is necessary as calling when you’re told not to come back is trespassing.

Starry,
Counting buildings, empty parking spaces, or the amount of members you don’t personally observe preaching means nothing. At all. Not a bit.
