i remember when i was a "devout" jws i could not wait to get the new watchtowers and awakes from the wednesday nite theocratic ministry school.
i would actually salivate thinking of the new information jehovah had in the magazines for us.
i was "franatical" and i would go home still in my three piece suit and devour the magazines that very nite.

I just started officially posting here a while ago but I've read Blondie's posts for years. They do provide serious food for thought for those that are looking for it. we think we were in a destructive cult (and we were ) however their is a far larger destructive cult by the name of islam./ muslim two young teenage girls killed because they were dancing and recording it on a mobile phone .they were not naked they were in traditional dress.it was reported to be an honour killing by a step brother......honour killings are rife with this religion.....genital mutilations of females are rife with this religion.....suicide bombings are rife with this religion .....,even killing fellow islamists of a different sect...a young girl is shot because she wants to promote an education for young girls...multiculturism in western society only advances the agenda of extremists of islam ,they use it to their advantage against the softer policys of freedom of democracy........political correctness is going to be on the headstone of democracy.......mark my words .

yet another secretly recorded judicial committee hearing...the hero of this story is rachel... this brave and funny kiwi lady stands up to the local elders and goes through this scary situation with grace and logic and so much class!.
bravo to her husband who comes along to support her and her goal is to awaken and perhaps reach the hearts of these men that are poised to spiritually execute her.

ok. this is something i've wondered about.. people of certain religions tend to use their own holy book as evidence for things in itself.
this seems very circular to me.
using the book to prove the book in my view is pointless.. i am not aware of any of the 'miracles' of the bible or the quran as having any substantial evidence outside of themselves to give credibility to the books themselves.. has anyone come across such evidence?.
cantleave - I reckon if Derren Brown performed some of his illusions / psychological feats in front of a group of bronze age goat herders, they would be classed as "miracles".

i purchased a condo late last year and due to my personal schedule, i wasn't able to redo it to my preferance until a few months ago.
all the heavy work is done.
now just replacing electrical outlets, fixtures and such.
I got rid of all that crap years ago. No bound volumes, no bibles, nothing.
I don't want to risk having a demonized house and having a smurf have it's way with me while I sleep.
I guess I'm just cautious.
when "old light" becomes "new light" sometime down the line the "new light" will eventually become old.
i do realize the superiors use passages (aka word magic) to explain such a big change.
what would be the difference between holy spirit revelation vs. man's opinion in this particular situation?
Pro-tip:
The phrase 'old light' may be a giveaway to apostate thinking/reasoning. I don't think that an 'in' JW would use that turn of phrase.
'The light gets brighter and brighter' is more how they'd put it. 'Old Light' is too cynical, I'm sure.
