when i was in it, especially as a young person, it was rules oriented but not like it is now.
to me, the religion is a lot more fanatical than ever before....what do you think?

How exactly have the get togethers been done away with? Discouraged in publications or talks or something? I've heard this complaint before and wonder how it came about.
The only thing that made the 'truth' worth it sometimes was the after meeting socializing (albeit sterile as it could be).

continuing on with my haphazard review of the recent one-day elders school..... in one of the introductory talks, the co was making the point that we can't view things merely from a black and white perspective.
many issues have "shades of gray" and we need to use discernment in such situations.. and i'm thinking "finally!
maybe he will continue on to make an actual, reasonable point!".

i've been officially accused of "thinking too much".. i've tried to quit thinking, but i'm hoplessly addicted to it.i just can't seem to turn my brain off.. at times duing my school years i was accused of not thinking enough.
now i'm guilty of thinking too much!.
the brother even went on to say "could you imagine what the witness organisation if everyone was thinking independently like you do"?

I know the feeling... I remember an elder giving a talk and asking about doubts, etc... I don't remember the details but my stomach sank by the end of this thought.
and it makes me sick.
i mean, i watch this big, black woman on youtube sing with this incredible voice and all i think is sadness cause i feel like she abuses her kids.

my son is still studying with the jw's and is giving his first talk this tuesday.
he's 22 and still living in my home.
my other two boys 12 and 15 are here as well but don't study cuz wifee knows how i feel.
You're in a crappy position, I feel bad for you.

jgnats advice has been awesome on this thread... right up to 'go to bed'. Don't give them any reason to feel persecuted ... they feed off of that.
Also, my real dad that I met later in life would never, ever have gone to the KH. I have to say... I respect that. 'To thineself be true' and all that jazz.
they've moved it to edmonton.

It won't occur to the average witness that the Governing Body and Tim McGraw and KISS are all just putting on a show in a public venue. Some shows just suck more than others!

i went to post a packet today.
as i left my house i noticed a couple of jws boring a house holder to death.. as i returned from the post office i saw the area regailed with jws, many of whom i know.
they didn't see me as they were busy trying to foist leaflets onto people.
