My street crawling with JWs

I went to post a packet today. As I left my house I noticed a couple of JWs boring a house holder to death.

As I returned from the Post Office I saw the area regailed with JWs, many of whom I know. They didn't see me as they were busy trying to foist leaflets onto people. I wonder if it's the CO visit?

As usual the ones that were moving from door to door were walking slower than a dead slug.

As I walked through an alley way I saw 4 Jws I knew. They came by 2 by 2.

A sister looked at me quizically briefly then said 'Morning'. I replied 'Morning.' back.

Then her husband said 'G'morning.' to me and I smiled and responded.

Have I changed that much in 2 years that they don't recognize me now?

I am slimmer, bushy hair and wear an earring......but that's about it.

I felt sorry for them and for the poor kids being dragged about the streets wasting time.

Well its just past 11am so they'll be finishing and on their way home. Those kids can now go out to play or watch Saturday morning TV like normal kids do. Thats actually the worst part of my childhood, the Sat morning ministry. You'd think it would be missing out on Christmas and birthdays but no, it was being dragged out of bed on the weekend to go knocking on my school friends doors. Then having to feign illness on Monday morning because I was too embarrassed to face the friend whos door I knocked on in school. Sorry, went slightly off subject then.

not bitter - I've been there and done that.

The only good thing about the end of Saturday morning failed misery was getting Fish'n'chips, going home and watching Casey Jones on T.V.

Saturday was hell because after Dr Who had finished Dad would make us all sit as a family and study (TM) the watchtower for a the boring Sunday that followed.

Fortunately we rarely had a family study. Thank you Dad. I do remember having to miss the end of 'Lost in Space' and 'Star Trek' which were on Tues and Thurs evenings. Hated that.

I missed Top of the Pops and some cool Sci Fi stuff too as our meeting was Thursday evening.

It sucks to be a JW.

    Interesting comment there:

My mother was one of the JW TV obsessives and banned me from watching Dr Who (horrific and nasty), Scooby Doo (demonic), Rentaghost (demonic), Grange Hill (far too worldy), 6 Million Dollar Man (too violent), Batman (too violent - even my brother and sister took her for task on that pointing out that the Wams and Bams covered up the screen). My kiddie TV was all Blue Peter and 'nice' programmes.

So it was great fun in the school playground having f*** all to talk about.

Needless to say, my kids watch Dr Who.

Are the leafleting the neighborhood for a coming convention?

We weren't allowed to watch Grange Hill either. It would give us ideas for when we got to high school. However, Armageddon was supposed to arrive before we ever got to high school so I don't see what the problem was.

I think the A Team was banned at first but my brothers and I managed to pursuade them it was ok as no one actually died in it.

I saw some witlesses doing the pioneer stroll to the hall.

Now picture this there is a hall in downtown dfetroit accross from where the tigers play. As you can imagine on a saturday morning not much traffic. There is 2 routes these witlesses could've taken...walk the lil street that the ballpark is on (nobody else on that street.) Or they could go up one block to the MAIN STREET THAT DIVIDES DETROIT that will (and did) have some people walking on it, now what styreet do you think the Dubs was walking down?
