  The Fake "Joy" Of Jehovah's Witnesses

  do you observe this "joy" when you see witnesses going from house to house, in the kingdom halls, out working, or during theocratic wholesome recreational activities?.

  I was shocked when I recently visited my JW family. The way they gossiped about and relished the hardships of their 'spiritual brothers and sisters'.

  Hardly a kind word about anybody that I used to know.

  I was remembering how one 'sister' used to be nice to us as teenagers, arranging get togethers and parties for young people, etc. I was then informed that she ended up marrying some guy that beat her all the time to the extent of hospitaliztion, etc, and she even was beaten badly enough once that her teeth were chipped.

  My mom's comment was 'She may have been nice to young people but she just doesn't have a lick of common sense'.

  Really mother?! Really!!??

  Such joy!!!! I felt so 'discouraged (TM)' after hanging with the JW's again for a single day. They are a real downer. Fact.

  Scary Stuff

  today's high school students in the usa:.

  less than 1/2 of them cannot identify the century when our civil war happened.. one in four thought columbus discovered america sometime after 1750.. one in three cannot name one right enumerated in the bill of rights.. three out of four cannot name the first us president.. two out of three do not know the length of term of a member of the house of representatives.. half cannot find britain on a map.. one out of four cannot find america on a map.. when my oldest daughter, who is now a physician was in 9th grade in this once-great state of california, i asked her about the three branches of our federal government.

  she was clueless and told me she would take civics in her junior year in high school.

  For the sake of playing both sides of the argument.

  Other reasons for hiring young people with university degrees:

  They're not as afraid to do some of that research and dig around... not expecting all answers to everything handed to them on some perfectly designed job description.

  Also, unless you were raised in some education bashing cult (hehe)... Why don't you have a degree? Is it because your parents weren't effective role models? Did you grow up less than ideally? I'm I going to have to pay for your parents sins indirectly? Am I willing to take that risk?

  That said, I really hope these stats are overstated, I really do.

  Reality = The overwhelming majority of people really don't give a damn about them one way or the other.

  Movie BLACKFISH Reminds Me of Watchtower Corporation

  you can google it to learn more but blackfish is a documentary about killed whales in captivity.

  particularly a male named tilicum who wound up killing trainers, the last one in 2010.. i had to bite my tongue when my jw wife said "whad did ya think?".

  i answered but wanted to say that seaworld giving the impression that trainers were most highly educated was a lie, telling the public these were isolated instances of trainer error was a lie, and all their actions and area tions made me think of wts.. trainers were typically not marine biologist but just young eager excellent swimmers.

  How many JWs are genuinely in "good standing"?

  an interesting question arose from my earlier thread:.

  we all know that many jws do stuff that would get them disfellowshipped, but never get caught.

  but how many jws do you think there really are who have never kept any disfellowshipping "offense" secret?

  Interesting thread. It makes me think that yeah, actually, I did do some 'stuff' that would have gotten me into JC's ... didn't really think about it that way at the time though.

  This drives home the point to me that people in religions live the same as those that aren't 'religious' ... even Jehovah's Witnesses, for real.

  JW attitudes to women

  i would be very interested to hear from you ladies on this one.

  i know that the society keeps women in subjugation through the headship cr@p but didn't ahve any sense about hoew prehistoric the attitudes are until the other day when we were driving out of the supermarket car park and my wife spotted a woman dressed in tight shorts (it has been very hot here) and she commented 'they say that women who dress like that dserve to be raped'.

  i did a wtf and overreacted 'how can you blame the victim like that - such attitudes give men a lciense to commit rape and make women feel they are to balme if they get raped which in turn means that rape doesn't get reported and it gopes on with impunity.

  I know it's a cliche... but women should be able to walk around naked without fear of being raped. I really do believe that.

  Most women I pass on the street or do business with etc, have their mouths totally exposed... do I have a right to ram it in? Of course not. Why would partial or total nudity of their other parts be any different?

  Some may see that comment as crass... I think seeing it any other way is.

  at a convention recently, i met with don wallace, a former co and do.

  he told me he came off the road 6 years ago and is living in scottsboro al.

  him and his wife are in their late 70's.

  Well, I have to say, when I was 'in the truth' I wouldn't have guessed that people that high up did that sort of thing (ie:Think 'just in case the end doesn't come I'll save up on the down low'). I guess I wasn't much of a thinker then.

  Very cool Diana.

  By coincidence, we had somebody bring one of those machines to my house to type out my father-in-law's JC (we were told recordings not as good for police record). We were then hours away so JC was done by conference call. Two different houses patched into KH.

  The stenographer listening into everything and typing away for hours. I can't imagine what she made of it all, we must have seemed like something out of Big Love to her! Myself, wife, SIL, three elders and child molestor all having it out! She didn't seem too upset by it though, must hear a lot in that profession.

  PS... he was DF'd ... finally! We drove up for that meeting!

  Yeah, I wasn't overly concerned with any details either. Believed it, signed up, it was the right thing to do. That attitude doesn't cut it in the real world with contract law... but hey... I was young... they like 'em young!
