Yep, I've posted here before Blondie. Strange thing is, I believe that if God really exists, the JWs are closest to the truth compared to all other religions. So isn't it great that we're not gonna be tormented in hell for eternity for the few years that we sinned? So the scripture is true: eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we shall die. If I was god I wouldn't punish you for eternity because of what you did in reaction to how you were raised. Seems pretty stupid and pointless. So I think the JW's got something right there. Better to not exist than to be tormented forever.

Oh hey, nice to meet you too my fellow diseased one. Well, basically, I'm just this random drunk guy who woke up at 6:30 am and decided to post this thread for the lulz. I was raised in a super strict Jw family which I blame my alcoholism on since in my formative years we would do the 7 days a week daily text ritual at 7am sharp for exactly 15 minutes until 7:15 which would then commence the spiritual discussion for 45 minutes until 8 am, however, we would not be allowed to leave the breakfast table until each of the family members had sufficiently contributed to the spiritual discussion. Since we were homeschooled, this would then follow with our time allotted to get dressed into our meeting clothes so that we could then engage in the field ministry from 9-5' 5 days a week followed by our saturday witnessing and of course our Sunday afternoon field service after the watchtower study. All school work was to be completed during the remaining hours since the end was coming so soon and we had no need for education. Thank god (I mean Jehovah) that I never got baptized during all of this rigorous activity despite the constant pressure from my family (especially my grandparents). However, I am a living witness to the mental disease that was caused by this life and the hardcore alcoholism that developed thereafter. DO YOU THINK JEHOVAH WILL FORGIVE ME FOR BEING DRUNK?

Thanks :) Yeah a lot of my JW friend's family would just hide but my dad was hardcore so we'd turn all the holidays into an evangelical opportunity. I remember calling on people's houses Christmas morning and him preaching to them about how pagan Christmas was. We'd get kicked off the property at every house, of course.
It's funny though, my dad used to be an elder in the 80's and is still a hardcore JW, but he has a full beard now and has all kinds of problems with the elders nowadays and calls them "the pharisees," and he even says the Watchtower's calculations that Jerusalem was destroyed in 607 is completely flawed, and that the Watchtower society will have to drop the 1914 date. I honestly don't understand the whole 607 and 1914 thing, but my dad as a hardcore witness keeps telling me that they are wrong and will eventually change their views interests me. Especially since he raised me as a suer super super strict JW and now he's saying they were wrong about all this. But he is still "strong in the congregation." I smell hypocrisy all over this.

I remember getting up early the next morning after Halloween scrounging the streets in my neighborhood for candy that the trick or treators dropped the night before. I usually scored a nice handfull :) And at least I got to count a bunch of magazine placements on my publisher's record after Halloween for giving out old magazines! Oh, the joys of being an 8 year old Witness. Halloween always brings back memories.
What a great night to get drunk and remenisce!

I was raised in a JW family but never got baptized.
My father used to make me and my sister put old Awakes and Watchtower's in the trick or treaters' bags. We would say: "I don't celebrate Halloween but here's a treat for you!" Then we'd give them a back issue of the Awake or Watchtower magazine. I remember as a child wishing I could dress up in a costume and go "from house to house" getting candy. But instead we had to sell our magazines. "Watchtower and Awake, fifty cents!"
Do you remember wishing you could be one of those "worldly kids" and getting to dress up?
I have nothing in common with these "normal people" nowadays, so now, once again I'm labeled as a freak because I've turned into an alcoholic because I have to escape the world in order to function.
What a fucked up world we live in. Well, when I'm destroyed at Armageddon for being a wicked drunkard I guess I will realize they were right and I was wrong.
