Thanks Data-Dog, I enjoyed the article. Not sure A Watcher appreciated it. He/she probably only now realized that he/she finds himself surrounded by a bunch of apostates, and fled. Rest assured, A Watcher, we are only interested in the truth, nothing more, nothing less. If you look carefully, you will see that JW life is not so good for many unfortunates (see above).

The JW life is good!
by Julia Orwell infor some people.
i think of the old man who has no family and lives in a nursing home, and the only time he gets out is when he's picked up for the meetings.
he lives solely for that.. or people who love routine and busy-ness, people who need to be led.. george orwell wrote that the party is best able to impose its worldview on those least likely to understand what it is that's being asked of them: orthodoxy is unconsciousness.. i believe a lot of jws swallow the party line and it passes through them unharmed, like a seed pooped out by a bird.

*lost*, here's some research I have done on the subject. Not sure whether this is what you are looking for. There's lots more where this came from, but I don't want to bore you with irrelevant facts:
According to current evidence, an accurate etymology of the Tetragrammaton is impossible. However, if the Tetragrammaton had been derived from 'êh(e)yêh 'äshêr 'êh(e)yêh of Ex. 3:14, we have various stems to choose from:
hâyâh ( = I. to be/to exist II. to become/to happen/to take place);
hâwâh ( = I. to breathe/to live; II. to fall);
hhâwâh ( = I. to breathe/to live; II. to breathe out/to show/to reveal);
hhâyâh ( = to live/to be safe/to revive/to heal).
This means that the meaning of the Tetragrammaton is either I. Static, or II. Dynamic (see The Mysterious Name of Y.H.W.H. by Dr. M. Reisel, pp. 5, 12):
I. Static interpretation: This originated from Ben Sirach and the LXX translators. The latter viewed the phrase as meaning ’Egou ’eimi ho oun (“I am the Being”). Later Aquila and Theodotion render the words ’Esomai hos ’Esomai (“I will be who I will be”). The Peshitta and the Samaritan Targum leave the words untranslated. Jerome’s Vulgate gives a static interpretation: Ego sum qui sum.
II. Dynamic interpretation: This can be traced to the Targums and the Talmud, as well as Jewish Commentators Rashi (1040 – 1105) and his grandson Rashbam (1095 – 1174).

A watcher, interesting scripture you are using. Yet another mistranslation by the NW Translating Committee. One is not "disposed" to everlasting life, you are "appointed" or "ordained" to everlasting life. Why do they translate this scripture so? Because it clashes with JW doctrine (they don't believe in predestination). I view it as dishonest scholarship. All dictionaries in my possession translate it as "appoint." I encourage you to compare the NWT with other translations to get an accurate and unbiassed picture:
NWT Acts 13:48 When those of the nations heard this, they began to rejoice and to glorify the word of Jehovah, and all those who were rightly disposed for everlasting life became believers. (Act 13:48 NWT)
ASV Acts 13:48 And as the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of God: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. (Act 13:48 ASV)
ESV Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. (Act 13:48 ESV)
NJB Acts 13:48 It made the gentiles very happy to hear this and they gave thanks to the Lord for his message; all who were destined for eternal life became believers. (Act 13:48 NJB)
1 . to bring about an order of things by arranging, arrange, put in place
a. of an authority structure
b. of a pers. put into a specific position, pass. belong to, be classed among those possessing Ac 13:48.
2 . to give instructions as to what must be done, order, fix, determine, appoint
a. concerning everything that you have been ordered to do
b. they set a day for him and came Ac 28:23 (see BDAG).

Giodano, you remind me of what I always said. I told people I am a JW. I back the winning horse, but it seems as though my winning horse has turned into a donkey.

Believers and Non-Believers - What does this scripture mean?
by cantleave ingenesis 30:37-39english standard version (esv).
37 then jacob took fresh sticks of poplar and almond and plane trees, and peeled white streaks in them, exposing the white of the sticks.
38 he set the sticks that he had peeled in front of the flocks in the troughs, that is, the watering places, where the flocks came to drink.

Remember, it's what Jacob believed. The reason why God didn't set him straight and explained the whole thing, we do not know. I agree, I would have at least explained Mendel's laws to him and with what ratios he could expect, 1:3:1 if I'm not mistaken.

I am free
by new hope and happiness inyes the title of my first post was a little negative " shatterd faith" and the truth is i dont feel like that at all.. its wonderful being in a state of not knowing as it makes hope possible.
and what i now learn i will learn from within and also enjoy doubt.. so why do i call this post " i am free"?
because i will no longer allow a tiny few control the direction of my life.

Tiki, agreed. If you have a conscience, and it is working, you will leave, otherwise you might become a sharer in their sins.

It's what one might call a miracle. The Bible's full of them.

by unstopableravens inim not dfed yet, i told the elders for a long long time the wt is not gods org, i told them what i believed ,jesus being god, born again, yadda yadda yadda, i have not gone to a jw meeting in a long time, i go to church etc.. but what i feel would be a great relief and really help me be free is to come out on here with a pic and not hide behind unstopableravens username, im not sure if its a good idea or not..

No, it might not affect you directly, but do you have family in the "truth." Well, for their sake it might not be such a good idea. Remember, you are shunned just by association. Your family members might be shunned, just because they are related to you. I would recommend, one keeps a low profile. What one does not see, does not grieve the heart. My five cents worth.

Watch out those that swallow the party line just because they don't know better. I know of an old brother, an elder for a long time, one that sold everything in 1975 and pioneered. He ended up with a small pension and a little money in the bank. A kindly brother, an elder, offered to built on a flat and to look after him. Naturally, the brother used his money to build on the flat for him to stay in. After he fell in the shower for a third time, the brother put him in an old-age home in a neigbouring town. When he became bedridden, he for days lay in his urine an faeces. And that's how he died. This I know, because my father (who hated the Witnesses) and my mother (a Witness) took pity on him and visited him. So this is a warning to all those faithful pioneers and Bethelites. Hopefully you will die before the calamitous days are upon you, and you are conveniently forgotton by your spiritual brothers and sisters.

Welcome New hope and happiness! The CO asked my mother whether I wanted to come back. I look after my mother and she still associates. So, she said, no, not in the least. He then aked whether I am not guilty of a serious sin somehow. My mother answered no, she would have noticed (we live in a small town and there is not much mischief one can get up to without somebody noticing).
I was very angry about this until I thought about it. No reason to feel grieved, I am free. I told her, next time he asks, tell him there is one sin that I am guilty of, and one that I freely admit. I'm like the Pharisee, thanking the Lord constantly that I am not like the lowly taxcollector (the deluded, pioneering JW that hangs on the lips of the GB). See Luk. 18:9-15. I am able to think for myself. I don't need anybody to think for me. I am truly free!
